Identity Development Model:

Complacency (Everything is 'normal')

Encounter (Realizing the world is not as safe as they once thought it was. ex. a person of color learns about racism and how it impacts them. Or a white person observing how it impacts others)

Disintegration (Losing happiness. Questioning reality and its existence)

Reintegration (The character absorbs their ideas of identity whether it's from books, parents, media, pop culture. Here the character will find a more positive reassuring state where they have power over themselves)

Resolution (The character is steady and ready for what's to come in the future)
