"So, the rumors about Harry talking to you are true?" Eleanor recapped

"Yes"

"And.. he hit Luke for you, then took you to lunch?" she continued

"Yes"

"What'd you guys even talk about? I mean, he's him and you're.."

"A boring smart teacher's pet? Thanks, El." Claire scoffed

"No! I just mean.. He's a douchebag! You're sweet!"

"He's actually not. He protected me, bought me lunch, and took me home. Don't be jealous, Eleanor"

"Sorry.. I guess I am a little jealous.."

"sorry I snapped.."

"I get it, Claire.. Let's just talk more this weekend, yeah? I've got a shift in 15"

"Ofcourse.. Text me whenever"

"Got it. Bye"

Claire hung up and tossed her phone to the side, letting it land in the mess of blankets on her bed carelessly.

In 5 hours, she'd be letting Harry Styles into her room through her window without her mother knowing...

she had changed, really fast.

She heard the front door open then slam and she knew her mother was home. She got up quickly, slipped her shoes off, grabbed her notebook, and sat at her desk. She heard teh footsteps coming up the stairs and she quickly grabbed a pencil and started to scratch down some recap notes about English Literature.

"Honey, Can I come in?" her mother called

"yes!" she shouted

The door opened and her mother stepped inside

"The school called, you left classes early... Are you sick?"

"I had a terrible headache.. I didn't want to leave so I thought I'd just keep studying when I got home" she lied uneasily

She was shaky and unfocused and worried

"Is anything else wrong, dear? You look pale"

"I think.. I think I'm just tired. And.. nervous. About the math final."

"Oh, you'll do great. Do you want me to make you soup or coffee?" her mother asked as she felt Claire's forehead with the back of her hand

"Uh, no. I think I'll just go to bed early so I can get some extra study time in tomorow. I might call Callum, since he's really good at math, and have him stay over tomorrow to help me"

"Alright. I've got some paper work to do in my office then I'm going to bed. I've got a board meeting really early tomorrow. I'll leave some money out so you can order lunch tomorrow"

"Thanks mom"

"Of course."

She felt bad for lying. She'd never lied to her mother before. Especially not about skipping school. Maybe she'd faked sick before when she was little, because of the bullies, but she hadn't done that since elementary school.

She sat in her room, trying not to let the guilt of lying to her mom and skipping school push her into confessin everything to her mother... then the clock turned to 11:25... and she was sitting on her bed, right by the window, looking for a black range rover to pull up to the street in the darkness.

and it did.

Harry parked his car across the street. The headlights were out. He got out silently and jogged into the yard.

He slowed and looked at the house, checking to see if any lights were on..

Then her window slid open and he smiled wide as he ran over and climbed in.

"Woah.. Nice room" he complimented as he crawled through the window and onto the bed.

"Thank you" she responded as she slid the window halfway shut then closed the curtains in front of it, "If my mother comes in to check on me or something, there's a spot in the closet cleared out for you"

"Oo already planning hiding spots.. Smart, love"

He grabbed her sides and pulled her to the edge of the bed. She was sat, looking up at him, and he was standing right infront of her

"Wh-what're we doing?" she asked quietly

"Getting to know each other. Your past, my past. Family talk. What we like." he shrugged
