The camera crew and the contestants shifted over to another area for filming, this time being set near a giant metal facility, about a story tall. On one side of the facility, a large yellow poster that covered nearly the entire side showed an image of an object being electrified. Some text read above: "CAUTION: HIGH VOLTAGE-WIRING INSIDE!"
"Holy moly, ho-how...how did you even manage to afford this? This looks EXPENSIVE!" Flyswat asked, staring at the facility in astonishment.
One of the assistant directors and co-writers walked over with an earnest smile. Known by his simple nickname, PB&J, the peanut butter and jelly treat informed the flyswat on his question. "Actually, this baby right here didn't cost us a cent!"
Flyswat rose a brow at that, with much suspicion. "Huh? But, how did you get this for free?"
"Oh, we didn't buy it!" PB&J chuckled. "Professor Tickswork entrusted and rented us with one of his latest inventions for the show. He'd love us to demonstrate how his inventions function and compute to the public. Since this is a recently popular TV show, this could market better sponsoring and opportunities for him and our crew,"
"Woah, he sounds like a cool guy, is he here with us?" Flyswat questioned, slightly eager to meet this so-called "Professor Ticksworth".
"Well-" PB&J didn't have another moment to speak once everyone heard the crackling coming from a speaker.
"We're rolling very shortly now, everybody! Get to your places!" The director ordered.
Nonchalantly, the two parted ways as well as the others who went into their ideal places. The camera crew was adjusting and confirming their cameras were in pristine condition, the makeup crew was finishing up the last touches, and just coming out of his trailer, Gamey sipped the last of his black coffee. Walking over to the scene with the script in his hand, he yawned after the short break he managed to have.
His assistant manager, Clipper, crept up beside him and adjusted the pace as the dated machine walked by. "Got your lines memorized, Mr. Boyd?"
Gamey nodded, carelessly handing over the sheets of his script to his rather underpaid manager. "Yeah, yeah, I got it all in here," Gamey then pointed to his head, tapping the top of his body a couple of times.
Though Clipper wasn't too keen on his employee's behavior, he covered his annoyance with a smile as he was also handed the empty mug Gamey had. "Well, just in case, we got all your lines behind the camera in case you forget!"
"Why'd we even bother with giving you a script: you're more forgetful than a chimp.." Clipper said under his breath as Gamey gave a light chuckle at Clipper's previous comment.
Gamey trailed ahead to where he was set to stand, the cameras focused on him and only him. Clearing his throat to make sure he didn't have an awkward voice crack on camera again, Gamey took in a deep breath as the director signaled for them to begin rolling.
And once the light when on those cameras, his entire personality flipped like a light switch.
"Welcome back everybody! Now, as I said before, today's challenge will not only be a test of trust with your teammates but a test of trust with YOURSELF!"
"Ourselves?" Popcorn asked.
"You bet!" Gamey replied. "For this challenge, one-half of you guys will be out into the maze and the other will guide you guys out of the maze, simple?"
"A tad too simple," Top Hat remarked. "Why, I could do this blindfolded!"
"That's the point," Gamey replied, seeing a confused expression pop from the exquisite hat's face. "Everyone in the maze will be blindfolded and will have to rely on the orders given to by the others NOT in the maze: that's what I was talking about with the idea of trusting yourself and especially others."
