LONG CHAPTER

I guess when you jump off a cliff and sacrifice your life for the world without telling your

girlfriend you're going to do it, you can't really be that surprised when she resurrects you to yell at

you, But there was something different about her, something that was more controlled than before.

But yet she felt like home, the same cinnamon scent followed her everywhere she went. Her eyes

flashed their dangerous red more often now, showing me how comfortable she'd grown with her

powers since I'd been gone.

Something that used to bring fear to my core now warmed my heart to

see. She would use her magic far more liberally now. Floating dishes into cabinets to put them

away, lifting the couch to vacuum under it, it was all so beautifully mesmerizing to watch.

She

didn't bring me back to the compound after she brought me back, something I was fine with. She

explained what had happened since I died and I had to ignore the pang in my chest when she told

me about Steve and Tony.

My mind easily wandered to Peter and wanted to know if he was okay

and taken care of now that Tony was no longer around to reign in his ridiculous yet adorable

impulses.

Wanda was quick to reassure me that though he had said countless times that he missed

his "momma spider", Dr. Strange was keeping an eye on him and making sure he was okay.

There were other things besides her confidence that I was noticing about Wanda.

She was clearly

more protective of me than she had been before. Something that I hadn't really expected, but also

couldn't blame her for. I had thrown myself off of a cliff without thinking about what would

happen to her if my plan had worked. But the fact that it had worked was what made me happy.

It

had brought Wanda back from the snap, that was the only thing that mattered to me. It took her a

year to figure out what happened to me and then to figure out how to make a deal with Red Skull to

get me back, but in that time, she'd also figured out a way to stop not only her aging but my own

when she brought me back.

Telling me that time had already taken enough from us and she wasn't

going to let it have any more than it already took.

She'd made the little cabin in the mountains a

home, easily making me feel safe here and protected. It was the first time in my life that I had

actually been able to relax. It was a strange feeling, one that I wasn't completely used to, nor did I

trust it.
