The beginning of the end

"Saratoga, how could you! After everything, she has done for us, and you play a prank on her? Even worse one that is so severe and hurting that it ends with her almost killing herself?!" Enterprise screamed out at the younger carrier. “Imagine what would have happened if we hadn’t run in here at the last second?!” 

I could see Saratoga shrink after hearing that. Not like I didn’t understand Enterprise, I totally get her anger, but she leaves her anger out on a child. I couldn’t allow that.

I stepped in front of the small girl and obstructed Enterprise's view with my tail, lightly rubbing the child's cheek to cheer her up. I couldn’t stand seeing her cry. "Enterprise, let her tell her side of the story because I'm sure that she would not do it without a proper reason. I am right, am I not Saratoga?" I turned and looked at her by parting my tails and awaited her response. 

The small girl gulped. "Well, I was planning a prank for Athena…" She stopped upon hearing heavy footsteps.

Enterprise nearly ran forward upon hearing this. A glare from me sent her promptly back to her position. "I swear for this I will make you pay for this Sara." Enterprise said with anger in her voice.

"You will do no such as long as I have something to say against that.“ I said sharply and directly. “Now let the girl finish. If anyone is to decide if she should get punished, it should be me." I said with a softer tone this time. I needed to know what her reasons were, only after that could I judge her. "Please continue," I said and smiled at the small girl.

"Like I was saying, I was planning a prank for Athena, she seemed like the sort of girl that would brush it off and have a laugh, maybe even try and prank me back." She giggled a bit and then took a deep breath. "But then the admirals met me as I was walking around. They offered me the crate with bottles and told me to leave it in Athena's room for a big prank." She started shaking. "I didn't realise that they wanted to hurt you, I had no clue who you were so I agreed, it was not until I walked in on you talking to sis that I wanted to abort the prank. I panicked and tried to remove the crate until it was too late and this happened." She finished and started crying.

"I will make sure you will pay for your actions unless Athena wants to deal with you." Enterprise said, now noticeable tamer than before, must have realised that she meant no harm. I gave her a smug smile as I stood up and walked to Saratoga. 

"Please Athena, I'm sorry." She cried out. She must feel really bad, well she did almost drive me to suicide but thats an error from the past. 

I pulled her into a big hug. "There there, don't cry, I'm not angry." I said as I ran my fluffy tails all over her to calm her down. It seemed to have worked as her crying slowly ceased.

"I will prepare your punishment, this cannot be left unresolved." Said Enterprise to this from behind me. Oh hell no. I snapped my head so quickly around to look at her that if I did it any quicker I would have probably snapped my neck. "You will do no such thing, CV-06!" I said fast, this girl meant no real harm.  This finally seemed to register in that carrier's mind as she took a step back.

"But she just admitted to doing this."  Argued Enterprise. She apparently followed the law and not what was right.

"As a prank.” I simply pointed out. “I can forgive her for that. She didn’t mean it as harm." 

"Still she needs to be taught a lesson, what if…" Said Enterprise with anger. Saratoga just whimpered and squeezed me tighter.

"What if nothing, don't you dare to do anything.” I said quick and sharp. “I'm asking you as a friend. Do you really wanna punish a kid for not knowing better?"
