As my mom pulls into our new driveway, I sigh. Mom turns towards me, reaching out. " I know this isn't ideal. But I grew up here. We'll build a new life and make new friends." She comforts.

" It won't be the same. Daddy's embezzlement has ruined our life and dragged our name through the mud." I answer, darkly.

Mom doesn't know how to respond. Because it's true. Daddy's in jail for embezzling money so we lost our house and all of our friends. Our last hope is here. In this small town called Riverdale.

As the chauffeur brings all of our bags in, I wander around our new apartment. It wasn't as nice as our home in New York, but it was better than the streets. I'm admiring a vase when I hear Mom's footsteps grow louder with each stride. " I just ordered some food from Pop's Chocklit Shoppe. Could you pick it up for me? I need to unpack our things."

" Okay." I agree, shrugging on my black poncho like cape.

As I walk along the streets to the small diner with fluorescent lights, I take in my new home. I watch old convertibles and chevelles rumble down the roads.

I hear the jingle of the bell when I open the white door to Pop's Diner. I walk down the aisle between rows of booths, stopping when I see who I assume is Pop Tate himself. " Um hi, order for Lodge?" I say.

He smiles, " It's almost ready, you just have to wait for a minute."

As I wait, I feel eyes. Turning my head, I see a red headed boy sitting in a booth nearby. He is wearing a football jacket, and jeans. " Hey," the boy greets.

" Hey. Do you know if the onion rings are any good?" I ask.

" Fantastic." He responds.

" Could I have some onion rings to go with it, please?" I request from Pop.

" Sure thing."

I look across to the person he was talking with. I hold in a gasp, as I gaze at the girl. She has blond hair in a neat ponytail, with a peachy sleeveless button up on. Containing myself, I turn back to the boy. " My mom and I just moved here from New York." I explain.

" Wow," the boy comments, while the girl nods, politely.

" Do you guys go to Riverdale High?" I wonder.

" Uh, yeah we're sophomores together." Both of them say.

" Me as well. I am terrified."

" Why?" The boy asks, a slight chuckle in his words.

" Because this place is like Cold Blood, while I'm more of a Breakfast At TIffany's."

The red headed boy laughs, while the blonde haired girl barely smiles.

" Veronica Lodge," I finally introduce.

" Archie Andrews," the redhead replies, " and this is Betty Cooper."

Blonde haired girl nods in agreement, smiling brightly. " Wait, are you–" I start.

" Supposed to give you your tour tomorrow? Yes." Betty finishes.

I try to hide my blush. " Do you want to join us?" Archie suggests, " we can unfill you with terror."

" Sorry," I refuse, " my mom's waiting for me."

Archie's smile drops a little. He was handsome. But Betty was on a different level.

As I leave with my food, I take one last look at Betty and Archie through the window. Betty looked displeased at Archie's expression. I can't help but feel bothered by the knot in my chest. But I still had time to make Betty like me. Tomorrow was the first day of school.
