Andromeda Black always had an affinity for the paranormal. All of those ghost shows that play on tv, yeah you know the ones. She had been obsessed with them since an early age. Andy was convinced that there were spirits everywhere and would fight anyone who told her otherwise. When she had told the family that she was going to university to study Paranormal psychology, well there were mixed reactions to say the least. Her father told her she was out of her mind and refused to pay for her tuition so she took out loans and paid her own way through her courses. She didn't need her father's permission to do what she loved. Her youngest sister thought it was a little strange but supported her through her schooling. And her oldest sister? Well she was a non believer and just laughed and laughed when she told her. "Ghost? Truly? And they call me the mad one. That's rich." She would laugh when Andy would try to bring the subject up to her. Now at 35, she was finally at a place in her life where she could open her own paranormal investigations agency. Now, if she were being truly honest with herself, she hadn't run into many actual paranormal situations. Most of the time, it was old house noises, crazy high electromagnetic waves causing feelings of unease or sometimes a family member trying to prank their spouse. Andy was far from discouraged and knew one day she would come in contact with the other side. Today was the grand opening of Black Paranormal Investigations and boy did her father throw a fit when she took out the LLC on the company name. "I will not have my family name and legacy be dragged through the mud for your silly little endeavors, Andromeda," were his exact words when she left that family dinner and didn't look back. She finally felt freedom after being exiled from the family. She wouldn't trade her passion for any amount of family time.

"The office looks amazing," Narcissa Black said entering and smiling at her sister sitting behind the desk. "Very 1940s American gumshoe."

Andy just chucked, "thanks. That's what I was going for." She had the help of her 17 year old daughter, Dora, with decorating and getting the shop consumer ready. "Dora designed the office space."

The blonde woman nodded, "that makes sense now that I'm seeing it. She definitely takes after you."

"She has a lot of Ted in her too," she laughed.

"Please," Narcissa rolled her eyes. "You are the only woman I know who convinced their husband to take her last name after marriage."

"Black Investigations sounds way better than Tonks Investigations," she shrugged. "And it didn't take a whole lot of convincing."

"First, Father finds out his oldest daughter is a lesbian who wants to be a publisher and the his middle child wants to play with spirits. I only hope I can thoroughly disappoint him as well before he dies."

"Cissy," Andy laughed, "maybe after father passes, he will come back to us and be like 'I was wrong Andromeda. The paranormal is real.'"

Cissy chucked, "that'll be a cold day in hell. Has anyone come in yet?"

"A few people stopped by and I got a few phone inquiries but Dora is out there trying to scrounge up some business. Lord only knows what that means but I didn't ask."

"When she gets back, I'd like to take you out to lunch. Celebrate your big day."

"Sounds perfect."

Dora came back to the shop a little after noon and her mum and aunt headed out and promised to bring her a sandwich. She was taking a year off before going to University and offered to help her mom get the business off the ground. Dora's interests lie in the field of computers and polytechnics. She offered to order and set up all the equipment they would need for the investigations. She loved working with technology and got just as excited as her mom for when they actually went out on a job. Dora was just as much of a believer as her mother was. "Oh excellent," Dora looked up from the computer when she heard the door open. It was the delivery of all the new equipment they had just ordered. "Just put it over there, mate. Do I have to sign anything?"
