You stayed up all night. And no it's not because you were that shocked at the events the day before- you just have insomnia.
It was really bad last night though, you got about an hour of sleep and it was all split apart into mere minutes of rest.Eh, you're used to it.
You get up out of bed and stretch your arms, you go to your closet to get your cloak, and then realize you neglected to take it off last night. You walk over to your small table and pick up your mask, as well as the small silver box.
You put on your mask then open the box to look at the pictures within-*BAM*
Your door flies open behind you causing you to jump significantly and drop all the pictures.
You turn to look at the inconvenience that did this- oh, it's just the golden guard.
"Oh- sorry."
He stands in your doorframe while you look at him with a slight look of anger on your face (although he can't see it.)
You turn back to the pictures then kneel down to pick them up.
"It's fine sir, why are you here anyway?"
You gather all the pictures into the neatest pile you can and put them back into the silver box, shutting the lid and placing it back on your table.
"Oh, I need your help killing uh- something."
"Do you now?"
You turn to look at him, the talk-back wasn't needed, it just came out.
"No, I just enter guy's rooms for fun.
...
Why did that sound weird-?"That gets a small chuckle out of you.
"Yeah, as far as I know I was up for guard duty. So, fine by me."
You respond.
"What's wrong with guard duty?"
He asks.
You walk up to him to start leaving, he turns and begins walking as you follow, not before locking your door of course."Pff- have you never been on guard duty? Even when it's nice outside it's still as boring as watching paint dry!"
"I guess standing in the same place for hours on end would do that."
"Yeah, sure does."
The two of you continue chatting all the way to your destination.
Actually- come to think of it, you haven't come to your destination yet, and you've been walking for a while."Hey- where are we going anyway?"
The golden guard stops in his tracks and so do you.
"Oh-"
He says,
"..'oh'?"
You ask.
"Uhm.. would you believe me if I said we're taking the long route to avoid dangers and we've been making are way this whole time??"
"No."
You respond bluntly.
"Yeah that's what I thought- so I may or may not have gotten lost in the conversation and I have no clue where we are! Heh heh.."
"Sir- I'm flattered but- WHAT?! You have zero clue where we are?!"
You look around and all you see is forest, no sign of any witches whatsoever, the only thing signifying people have been here EVER is the thin, seemingly largely unused dirt path.
