The Darkness returns

5: The Minotaur

I opened my eyes. I had to squint them because the sunlight was to bright for me. When I finally got used to the light, I saw that Luna was hanging above me. She looked concerned.
"Rohan? How are you alive?" Aeryn asked.
"I guess I am just lucky." I said. She nodded and walked away.
"Are you okay?" Luna asked. I nodded and tried to sit up straight.
"Oh, be careful!" She said, helping me up. I sat with my back against a tree. Luna looked at me and wiped some of my hair out of my face.
"Are you sure?" She asked. I nodded again.
"Yes, I promise." I replied. She smiled at me and walked away. I heard Nessa giggle.
We don't like each other!" I said.
"Sure." Nessa said, still giggling.

I finally had the strength to stand again. Mason walked towards me.
"Are you okay, mate?" He asked.
"Yes Your Highne- uhh Mason." I said. I still had some trouble with just calling him Mason. I picked my bag up from the ground. I smiled at the King and walked towards Nox and Virsorrith.
"Ready?" I asked.
"Yes." They said. We walked towards the girls and Aluxio. Mason quickly followed us. I looked at Luna and she nodded.
"Okay, let's go." I said and started walking.

I was walking next to Luna. We were just chatting.
"What's that?" Virsorrith suddenly said. I walked towards him.
"What is what?" I asked.
"That!" He said, pointing at something in the middle of the road. I walked towards it. It looked like a sign. It stood in the middle of a junction. I read the first sign. It said: 'Valkenburgh'. The other one said: 'Danger ahead. Don't take this path'. I looked at Priscilla.
"The danger road." She said, pointing at the right path. I looked back at the others.
"You heard her. Come on. We have no choice." With that, I walked towards the right path.

Dark trees started to surround us. The sun was entirely blocked out. I had to light my hands on fire to see anything. The forest was filled with weird sounds. Luna walked next to me again. She looked terrified. Every time we heard a creepy sound, she turned her face to me and buried it in my chest. She was already holding on to my arm. I smiled at her.
"It's fine Luna. There is nothing to worry about." I said. I spoke to soon. We all heard a loud roar. The ground started shaking as we heard some heavy footsteps. The footsteps came closer and closer and soon we were looking at an enormous creature with the body of a humanoid creature and the head of a bull. A Minotaur. It was a creature from the Underworld. I was terrified. I took a few steps back, pulling Luna along with me.

The Minotaur got closer and closer. Suddenly a person jumped out of the bushes. He was holding a wand. He casted a spell that created a huge white light. When the light went away, I saw that the Minotaur had turned to ashes. The old wizard turned around to us. He smiled at us.
"Hello, young Zain." He said.
