"You think this girl will show?" a man isolated in darkness wondered.

"She will," Irvin replied, glancing up at the sky.

"Who the hell is she anyway?" another man asked.

"You'll see."

"OK," the first man prefaced, stepping forward. "Irvin, I know you like to keep things hidden, but we need to know who we're fighting with."

"Edison," Irvin sighed. "I get you're worried, but it's better if you don't ask them any questions."

"Daran help me out here," Edison begged, turning to their third party member.

"Are they Inhuman?" Daran wondered.

"Yes," Irvin answered.

"We'll give them another five more minutes," Daran decided.

"Really?" Edison questioned, despair crawling up his face. "That's all it took."

"We have to trust our kind," Daran replied, sitting on the chilled curb. "Plus, you know Irvin is incredibly particular about who he trusts."

"Yeah, I guess so," Edison grumbled. "You are picky."

Irvin only slightly shook his head, feeling like he was going into battle alongside nagging children. Yet, he kept his gaze glued to the ominously sinister building across the bay from them.

'Nambie, I trust you,' he thought. 'But this is a stretch.'

"Hey Irvin," Daran called.

"What?"

"Look up."

Above the dark cloud-covered sky, blistered as a dark red illuminating object moved towards them only to eliminate directly on their position.

"What the fuck?" Edison muttered.

"Emerald slow down," Weaver demanded through her earpiece. "You're descending too fast."

"Relax," she calmly justified, plummeting towards the ground. "I do this more often than you think."

"So how come flying in a plane scares you?" he wondered, watching the dive from the camera implanted in Em's hood. "Start slowing down."

"Can't. Anything above the tree line can be seen," Em explained.

"And anything lower will result in you splattering across the park," Weaver countered.

"I'll be fine," she responded, seeing the trees grow closer.

"Em wings now," he ordered.

"Just a few more seconds," she murmured.

Details of the ground became apparent. Short scattered trees rubbed up against the sandy shoreline with crashing waves pounding on piles of boulders.

"Emerald!" Weaver shouted.

Before her body collided with the solid ground, her wings burst out. Flames lit the air around her, lifting up and singeing the bushes beside her.

"Is that?" Edison stuttered.

"No way," Daran gasped, rising to his feet.

Landing just behind the shocked group, Em let her wings fade to ashes before walking toward Irvin.

"Don't ever do that again," Weaver lectured in her ear.

'Why did I give him the earpiece?' she rethought.

"You're late," Irvin mentioned.

"Long commute," she replied, the voice synthesizer deepening her words. "What are we looking at?"
