(This one is more AU-themed then I usually like to write, but just so you know the setting, Sayori is a cashier, and Monika is just a customer.)

Sayori was standing at the register, patiently smiling. She worked at a Cafe in a bookstore. Nothing too notable, or even that well paying, she knows, but in all honesty, she likes it that way. Sure, she can feel the sting of not making that much money, but she liked it here, more than any stuck-up office job, anyway. She also liked the interactions she had with the random passerby.

A purple haired girl who seemed to stick around even after getting her order, and disappeared when the baker was on break. A girl with scarlet hair who, once she got her donut and decaffeinated drink, gave the donut to a blue haired girl quietly waiting at a table. A boy who, in almost every interaction, tried to flirt with her (Sayori had never had as hard of a time keeping her smile as that interaction).

At some point, someone who stuck out to Sayori came by. A girl with green eyes and a white bow. Sayori didn't know why she stuck out so much, but she simply did.

"Hello! What would you like today?"

"Hello. I'd like to get a cinnamon bun, please."

"Of course! That'll be... $2.97!"

She paid for the bun, and left. As said, Sayori didn't know why she remembered them that much, but she did.

The next day, Sayori went back to work, put on her service smile, and focused on attending customers.

The purple girl came back again. Did pretty much the exact same things she did last time as well. Maybe she'd ask the baker about it? Nah, the baker's a bit tough, she wouldn't say if she had any affiliation. The boy came back, and Sayori actually told him to stop, which took him aback slightly, but he didn't fight. A girl with a rather deadpan look and earbuds came in, as well. She didn't say much, but seemed nice.

Most notably, Sayori noticed, the green eyed girl came back.

"Hello! What would you like today?"

"A cinnamon bun please." She answered, but then glanced behind Sayori at the menu, "and, how about a coffee, as well?"

"Sure!" Sayori took out a cup and a pen, "and what's your name?"

"Monika." The girl, Monika, answered.

"Alright! It'll be ready soon!" Sayori says, preparing the drink while Monika sits at a nearby table. The drink is soon prepared, and is given to Monika.

After a while, Sayori noticed just how slow the day was. It wasn't shocking, of course. It was a Monday. Who would go to a bookstore the day after a weekend? Sayori didn't really like slow days, as she found herself getting antsy if nobody interacted with her for a while. The baker didn't seem to tolerate the bouncy Sayori much, either, so it was a lose lose situation. Sayori also felt herself get jittery, when she glanced over to Monika, who seemed to have a fixated gaze on her. How long was she staring? Sayori decided the only reason could be that Monika wanted to ask for something, so she quickly made her way out of the counter and walked over.

"Do you need anything? I noticed you were looking at me."

"Hm? Oh, no, I was just thinking. Shouldn't you be working? I don't want to interfere with your work."

"Eh, it's a slow day anyways." Sayori glances back to the empty counter. "So, uh... you like cinnamon buns, hm?" Sayori asked, getting a little desperate for interaction. Monika looked a little intrigued, but soon got a slightly nervous look.

"Sure? I've always liked cinnamon, and this place has some great cinnamon buns."

"Ah, they do taste great, don't they? A Personal favorite of mine, too, actually." Sayori subconsciously sat on the other side, though Monika didn't notice, either. "I guess it makes sense that you like cinnamon, too. It's in the name!"
