It had been several months since the whole ordeal with him. It was a miracle I haven't earned a silly title, like "Hybrid destroyer" or something like that. Then again, I never talked to anybody here. They could be calling me "Butt Scratcher" for all I knew. Since my escape from the Island, I had been sulking around this large, grassy terrain, dotted with sparse bursts of trees and shrubs. There were no other raptors for me to talk to, and it's odd to talk to prey, because you may be chatting about the weather one moment, and breaking their neck the next. There were other predators, but we avoided each other. Apart from Rexy. I talked to her whenever I saw her. Or, more like, I talked at her. She always got this impatient look whenever I showed up, and just politely smiled and nodded when I spoke. It was like we hadn't killed a freak of nature together. She dropped hints occasionally, saying things like, "Oh Blue, that's very interesting, but I think perhaps someone else may enjoy it more," or it could be, "Blue, predators should hunt alone, it's better for prey. You don't want my company anyways, and I don't want you to go hungry." or something to that effect. I understood that other predators were solitary, but my instincts screamed pack, pack! at me all the time, and it was very difficult to ignore. Rexy's impatient behaviour, and the way she treated me like a small child, annoyed me a lot. But it was better than hanging out with him.
You perhaps don't know who 'he' is. It is the Indoraptor. Or was, rather. I killed him, like I killed his predecessor, the Indominus Rex. Rexy helped me kill I-Rex, after that monster had killed my sisters. And then, something painful and confusing happened, and I found myself fighting Indoraptor. He nearly killed me, but he fell through some glass and impaled himself. He hadn't picked a fight with me, but he had challenged Owen, who used to be my Alpha. After taking out the Indoraptor, Owen showed me his thanks by dumping me here. Cheers, Owen, I'm really loving it. I hoped you picked up on the sarcasm, there. It's a trait I learned from Rexy, from my failed attempts at starting a pack with her. Anyways, back to the point, Indoraptor was awful. He was so angry. It was like his mother had only taught him to kill and be angry. Simultaneously. He had given me some really nasty scars. Even I-Rex hadn't been so aggressive. His method of attack was: grip, rip and tear. He had long claws that seemed to hook into my scales, and teeth designed for killing. I nearly left Owen to him, but I thought Owen would be able to take me with him, and I could enjoy my life. Fat load of good that did me. Now I'm stuck in this wasteland, confused and sad, because I have nothing that a raptor so needs. I don't have a pack, there is limited prey, and I have made a lot of enemies.
As night took hold over the plains, I perfected my crouch, keeping my eyes on the unsuspecting compy in front. I usually left compys alone, but there wasn't much food around, and I was growing hungry. I leapt, and felt the satisfying snap of bones beneath my talons. The compy was killed before it even realised it was in danger. That's how it should be. A swift death, not fighting all the time. As I ate as much as I could, and then buried my prey for later. I needed a drink before finishing my meal. I swiftly ran to the nearby stream, and drank my fill. The water was refreshing and cold, and I gratefully lapped it up. As I returned to the area of my kill, I caught an unfamiliar scent in the air. I then found the dead compy, or what was left of it. There was nothing but bones and a few pieces of gristle left. The bones caught the beams of luminance, and winked at me in the moonlight. My anger surfaced, and I began tracking my adversary. Stalking the thief through the undergrowth, I couldn't help the feeling of dread spreading through my body. The scent was familiar, but it was tinged with something else, so I couldn't quite place it.
I heard the wet tearing of meat. It sounded like my thief had already found another meal. That's when I realised two things. Firstly, they weren't a hunter, they were a scavenger. Second, they must be bigger than me. I left quite a bit of compy left, and I had felt full, despite being hungry moments before I caught it. This dinosaur had eaten the rest of my compy, and they were tucking in to another meal. I hesitated. I felt some of the fight drain out of me. This wasn't good. I sniffed, to try to see what was being eaten, but I couldn't catch the scent. Now I had something new to worry about. The wind had changed. Before, I had been downwind, meaning I could smell the thief but they couldn't smell me. But now it was the opposite. A low growl sounded ahead of me. I decided it was better to leap out and challenge my enemy, instead of cowering behind bushes. I dashed out, but my roar died in my throat. I skidded to a halt, and stared at my opponent. Facing me, with his horrible, angry-red eyes, was the Indoraptor. Looking incredibly healthy, for someone who had been stabbed. I suddenly realised, I am going to die tonight.
