Rosanna Lee Winchester:
•Present Day•The rain pattered against the cement like a drum, doing everything it could to be heard. The small pellets of water hit against my bare hands and face, leaving the ends of my hair dripping with water. I sighed as I pulled my hood over my head, not like it helped much for my already wet head. The familiar flash of police lights made me lift my head from the concentration of avoiding the puddles. I watched as they drove past me, rushing to continue out their mission. I watched the car disappear around the corner before I started my walk again.
My red hair seemed to be the only color on this dark gray day. This town had lost its color over the years. Once Mayor Henry died, everyone was in such a state of shock, of grief. He had been so young, not above forty-years-old. He was one of our youngest mayors. He was kind and gentle, something this town wasn't used to. Our town was filled with grumpy, sleazy, old men who would do about anything if it allowed them to get some sort of pleasure. The women rarely smiled and it was like they were on a constant loop of PMS.
The children were the only light to the town, they had potential to change the world. They had hope, something the people here lost a while ago. They were in a constant state of gray, the in between. The crime rate here was higher than most cities. Robbery, vandalism, arson, murder, kidnap, and the average assault.
I reached my porch, pulling out the mail from the metal box. I looked curiously to see if anything was for me. To my surprise the biggest envelope was, "To my dearest Rosanna" . The front of the envelope read.
I furrowed my brows as I walked inside, the address placed onto the front was a place I had never heard of before. I sat the rest of the mail down onto the counter as I continued to examine the envelope. A wax stamp was placed on it to keep it closed, a simple "E" marked in it.
I pulled open the paper and tugged at the letter. I unfolded it gentle and looked at the script inside.
"Dearest Rosanna,
It is almost your 18th birthday and something big is coming. A whole new world is waiting for you to return. But first you need guidance. Before you can return, you must befriend the new children at your school. They will eventually take you there. They will care for you and protect you. They will ensure your safety. You must know, your mother cannot know about this. As she will try to stop you from taking your rightful spot here. It's your destiny, my love. You must fulfill it. I wish you all the luck and I wish to see you soon. Be safe and question everybody's loyalty.
~Much Love, A.N"
I looked at it for a second before chuckling. This was extremely ridiculous. Rightful spot? Ha, funny. And what was this, Aladdin? A whole new world. I didn't know I was apart of some Disney movie. I rolled my eyes as I pushed the papers into the garbage can.
But what if it wasn't a joke?
I furrowed my brows for a moment before letting out a sigh. A part of me wanted to believe that it was all real, that maybe it was legit. I pulled the envelope back out and pushed it into my bag. I made my way back upstairs and sat it all onto my desk. This was ridiculous.

I made my way through the parking lot of school the next day, trying to figure out what everyone was looking at. I pushed through the crowd of people as a girl stood against a sports bike, along with a boy. They were twins.
Their hazel eyes, dark hair, and olive colored skin was a complete contrast to mine. I had green eyes, red hair, and was extremely pale.
My eyes locked with the girls and she nudged her brother. I gulped and looked at him. His eyes were already on me as I quickly looked away. I backed up from the group of people who had been talking to the twins. I stumbled away as I reached the main entrance for the school. I made my way to my locker and leaned against it, my head spinning. What was going on?
