The following day had come. You spent an hour training with your pokemon. You didn't care at this point. You were going to win this battle, one way or another. You had gotten your team jacked up, poke balls shined and ready for battle. It would be a five v. three so you held the advantage in numbers. But it would be brute power where your father shined. He specialized in normal types. You didn't have any fighting types on your person. While you had a good deal of fighting-type moves, those pokemon couldn't do much against his team. But that was beside the point.
You were ready. You walked into the arena and saw your father on the other side, tightening a strap along his arm. He looked over to you and glared a little. You turned back to May and nodded at her. She nodded back and went to go into the stands as Birch was along the stands as well. You looked at your father as he tossed out a Slacking.
Norman: Let's get this over with. If you want my opinion, you really should have taken my deal.
(Y/N): Step off, will you? I don't care.
You tossed out Dusclops who cracked his knuckles. Both you and Norman glared at one another until you pointed forward.
(Y/N): Nightshade!
Norman: Facade!
Slacking roared a bit and released a loud boom that shot forward throughout the arena. Dusclops took the hit, sliding back but he charged forward nonetheless and got into a clear shot of Slacking.
Norman: Faint Attack!
Before Slacking could attack, Dusclops got up and slashed across the massive ape.
(Y/N): Shadow Punch combo!
Dusclops went in for a Shadow Punch, socking Slacking in the face. Slacking bit down on the third Shadow Punch, getting Dusclops right where your father wanted. Slacking stood up and went in for a bellyflop with Dusclops right under him. That was until Dusclops got out of the grip.
(Y/N): Confuse Ray and Pursuit!
Dusclops used confuse ray and quickly got around Slacking just before he was crushed. Pursuit was able to finish the Slacking in a single blow. Dusclops slowly stumbled forward as the massive Slacking was knocked out completely. You glared ahead at your dad as Dusclops slowly moved back over to your side. Your dad threw out his second pokemon.
Norman: Vigoroth. Encore. And then get in there with a slash.
Dusclops quickly returned to using Confuse Ray and Pursuit. While the ray was almost able to land on Vigoroth, the ape was able to evade and get up close and slash along Dusclops' chest. Dusclops, rebounding from the hit, went in with Pursuit and knocked the opposing pokemon to the ground as he struggled to stay upright.
Norman: Facade!
Before Vigoroth could go in for the attack, a small shock of damage hit your father's pokemon. However, Vigoroth was able to deal another blow against Dusclops with Facade and knock your pokemon out completely. You grunted a bit and absorbed him back up.
(Y/N): Nice work.
You tossed out another poke ball and Abra emerged.
Norman: An Abra? Really? I don't have time for this. Slash!
(Y/N): Get ready. Teleport around him, try to get him off of your back.
Abra quickly teleported behind Vigoroth and barely avoided a slash. Abra teleported behind Vigoroth again and kicked the same monkey in the face. Another teleport. Another kick. Repeat the cycle until Vigoroth had enough and socked Abra away in a single swing and sent your little guy sliding along the ground, almost knocked out.
(Y/N): Come on Abra! Get up!
Norman: Another slash.
Vigoroth roared and charged in to attack once again. Just before he could, Abra teleported away. Vigoroth stopped himself, glancing around the arena, attempting to find its prey. Abra teleported in on the left as Vigoroth's eyes were turning to the far right. However, that didn't stop the pokemon from backhanding your little guy with a slash, knocking him out of the fight completely.
You sighed in frustration and absorbed your pokemon back into its ball. You cracked your knuckles a little and glared back over to your father. You then tossed out a fresh pokemon. Sandshrew. Sandshrew clanked its claws together as you spat out some gum you were chewing.
Norman: A sandshrew? Not a bad choice. Good for an electric-type battle.
(Y/N): I don't want your sass!
Norman: Whoever said it was sass.
You gritted your teeth and pointed forward.
(Y/N): Use Sand Attack as covering fire!
Sandshrew quickly got to work, starting to blind the entire arena. Vigoroth was hit a couple of times by the sand, quickly rebounding and jumping back to avoid the attacks. As Vigoroth got clear of the sand, or at least back enough to get out of the attack range.
Norman: Vigoroth. Let's play their game. Use Faint Attack followed up by Facade.
Vigoroth grunted and got ready for action. Quickly, Vigoroth unleashed the move, barely hitting Sandshrew through all the sand around him. Once hit, Vigoroth roared out and charged in, ready to attack with Facade. However as Vigoroth was moving in, Sandshrew burst out of the sand on his flank and unleashed a series of Slashes to Vigoroth. Once the attack was over with, Vigoroth rolled along the ground, unable to get up and battle.
Both of you retracted your pokemon and looked back at the other.
Norman: Your double move idea is good. But remember others can use it just as effectively. It may have not been now, but it will be at some point.
(Y/N): Marshtomp.
You tossed out your partner as your father rolled his eyes and tossed out his second Slacking.
Norman: Just going to ignore my advice now?
(Y/N): Yeah. What's your point?
Norman: My point is that your battling style needs work and without that work you put into it, it will fall apart at the seems and-
(Y/N): To hell with that! That's the only thing you ever think of, don't you?! How can I win the next battle! You never once cared about Mom! Me! Any of us! It was always the next battle with you!
Norman: Then what is this then?!
(Y/N): Showing you who the best battler of the family is!
You pointed forward and Marshtomp already knew the plan. Norman snapped his fingers and Slacking got up on its highen legs.
Norman: Focus Punch!
Slacking's fist lit up as it got ready for a charged-up attack. Marshtomp leapt forward towards Slacking.
(Y/N): MUD SLAP!
Marshtomp tossed out a slap of mud, going directly towards Slacking's eyes. The mud hit Slacking in the eyes, shooting his head back a little. However, Slacking's head snapped back and threw the punch, regardless of the mud. Marshtomp took the punch, nearly at full force. He flipped over the arm and used it as a point to get up higher and unleash a massive beam of water into the face of Slacking.
(Y/N): Don't stop there! Go in for Take Down!
Marshtomp screamed out, using the move to pull the pokemon down to the ground, unleashing beams of water again and again to Slacking's face. However, Slacking focus punch was enough to fight back and send Marshtomp into the ground. Both pokemon continuing their fight along the ground, destroying rock and earth. Eventually, the entire arena just ended up in smoke, causing the whole thing to go invisible.
As the smoke cleared out, both pokemon were shown to be knocked out completely. You sighed but still kept the angry glare as the referee pointed at you.
Referee: Slacking is unable to Battle. The victor is (Y/N) by number count.
May was heard cheering in the stands as you kept looking at your father. He walked up, not to you, but to his pokemon, and absorbed them back into the ball. You stayed where you were, watching the man you call a father dust the ball off and put it on his waist. Your hatred still burning inside of you.
