His parents through the entire trip back to their home had been talking in hushed tones about the engagement. Not that Mew was bothering listening to them in the first place. He hadn't minded the fact he was marrying a man, but why did it have to be that brat. Mew wasn't about to admit that the boy was unattractive, he was far from it. The young man had a certain charm to him, he could see why the entire kingdom adored the young prince. Upon his visit, listening amongst the peoples murmurs, all were full of sorrow when they learned about the engagement.
So the town knew that their prince would be leaving them. Leaving them for good in a way. But that would also mean that they knew that their prince was marrying a man. They seemed suspiciously okay with the predicament. It would seem this city was, in many cases, way more forgiving than his. Most recently a lovely couple had their home burned down just for their partner being the same gender as them.
How would they react?
Will it be good?
Will it be bad?
Who knows.
He was glad, however, that he didn't have to ride back with the brat himself. That would have ruined his whole mood on the ride home. But at the same time, he was sort of disappointed. He had so many unanswered questions and Mew knew his parents wouldn't ask for him.
"Mew?"
He hadn't realized his mother was trying to get his attention, snapping out of his intensive thoughts, looking at his parents and their worried expressions. He had got himself distracted. Again.
"I'm sorry Mother, I wasn't listening"
"About this engagement, we're worried what the kingdom will...react to it" They are worried about the kingdom and Mew is more worried about how his Grandfather will react. All he could do is nod at this point.
"And my fathers reaction." His father had added to his wife's sentence. It was too late to call off the wedding, but at this point, Mew really didn't want to. He figured he'd get the younger man to understand his side and only be a couple for the public. He'll figure out a way to get an heir some other way. He had so much to do now, figuring out arrangements and such. Looking back out the window, spacing back out for the next 5 hours back home,
"At least Kana is a good kid"

Mild was just excited to be going on a road trip and that he didn't need to go to school while his friends sat next to him, stressing to an extreme. They are about an hour away from the North kingdom and his parents just messaged him that Mew's family is waiting for him to get there, which didn't help his stress much.
"Kana, you need to stop stressing, I'm sure you can get the prince to forgive you for assaulting him with balls." Mild snickered at his own comment with the dirty undertone he sent. That earned a glare from the taller one. "What?? I'm serious." Mild continued while laughing, " I'm sure he'd forgive you, stop stressing, I'm sure he's a great guy. He's even handsome." The shorter male ended his sentence with a small eyebrow wiggle.
Gulf rolls his eyes at his friend, "I'm not apologizing to that asshole. He deserved getting hit." It's not like he did it on purpose, but that isn't what he's stressing about at the moment. He's heard the stories about the people there and what they do, that's what's stressing him out. Every passing minute is making his anxiety spike up a notch.
"You're not denying that he's handsome?"
Gulf snapped his head to mild, who was smirking at him. Gulf blushes slightly and stammers out a couple curse words, "I will not confirm nor deny that claim, but he certainly will not win." Win what, he wasn't sure himself.
