Chapter Three: Apple Pie

you grab the glass door of the bakery opening it wide for your children to walk in first. they giggle running into the small shop. joy eminent on their faces. you match their joy just a step behind them. you see them rush over to yuji who's still behind the counter. he instantly beams when he sees them. he crouches down opening his arms for them to run into. he tightly hugs them, and they hug him back just as tight. "i miss you guys so much!" he says hugging them even tighter.

"uncle yuji!" alice says hitting his back "we can't breath."

his eyes widen as he quickly lets go of the twins."sorry. didn't realize how tightly i was hugging you guys." he chuckles scratching the back of his neck. his eyes trails off to under the counter. realization hits him like a train. he hits his forehead feeling slightly dumb. "i can't believe i almost forgot." he claims reaching under the counter pulling out a gift wrapped box. "happy belated birthday!" he says handing them the present.

their eyes glimmer at excitement. "thank you!" they both say hugging him again.

he laughs hugging them back. "anything for you two." he pulls away from the hug having a very serious look on his face. "i heard uncle gojo also has a surprise for you two." he stands up gently grabbing one hand from each of them. "come on i'll bring you to him." they smile following their uncle.

you smile walking over to the register. as you walk over to it, someone accidentally bumps into you. your eyes widen as you feel something hit your side. you look over seeing apple pie all over your shirt. your eyes trail up to the person who bumped into you. you take in his appearance. his unkempt black hair like he has just gotten out of bed, and his cat like eyes that feels like their staring right into your soul. you blush looking away from him. "i'm sorry. i wasn't looking where i was going."

he didn't say anything for a few seconds. he chuckles looking off to the side. "why are you apologizing? i'm the one who bumped into you." he claims scratching the back of his neck. he looks back at you. your face is still turned away from him. he slightly frowns, but quickly replaces it with a smirk. "i should be the one apologizing to you." he declares as he grabs your hand. you look over to him your eyes as wide as a deer in headlights. "i'm truly sorry." he says bringing your hand up to his lips kissing the back of your hand.

       your blush deepens to a dark red. he instantly notices your face growing redder his smirk growing with it. "i- it's fine." you shyly say pulling away your hand from him.

       "here let me help you with your shirt." he says grabbing some napkins. "may i?" he asks you.

       you were about to say yes, but stop yourself. "no it's fine. really. we're heading home after this. just needed to stop by and grab something."

"we?" he inquires.

"oh, yeah my-"

"mommy!" just then you hear the tiny voices of your son and daughter.

a smile replaces your fluster expression immediately. you crouch down letting the little ones run to you. "look what we got!" your little girl shouts a little too loud.you giggle looking at the coloring books and a big box of crayons.

you look up to see yuji and gojo standing there with smiles of their own. you stand back. "you guys shouldn't have."

gojo shrug. "i just couldn't wait for their faces to turn to pure excitement."

you giggle shaking your head. "well we should get home for dinner."

the twins groan. "but momma!" your little boy whines.

"no buts, now come on." you say grabbing one hand from each of them. when you turn you get a glimpse of the man from earlier. "oh sorry i'm heading home now. maybe we'll see each other again." with that you leave the bakery. leaving kuroo behind confuse at what just happened.

he watches as you disappear from the windows shaking his head going back to the counter to get another apple pie.

kuroo's pov

i walk back to where kenma has decided to sit at. sitting down, i set the apple pie in front of him. he doesn't glance up from his phone as he says, "what took you so long?"

flashes of the strange woman came to mine. a smile spreads on my face as i answer. "i guess something caught my eye." i shrug looking out the window.

from the reflection i see kenma look at me strangely. he roll his eyes setting his phone down. "whatever." he says as he starts to eat his apple pie. i smirk knowing things are about to get interesting.
