NOT A JOKE !

"vinnie, shut the fuck up,"
stella whined. she looked
away from him and placed
the chicken nugget in her
mouth.

"don't joke around like that."

vinnie sat there quietly. "what?"
he asked. "i deadass just confessed to you and you're telling me to
stop joking around?"

stella laughed, swallowing her
food before talking. "that's a funny prank, vinnie, really. i don't need
you to try and make me feel better because i was upset the other
day. i told you it was fine."

"stella, you are so fucking dense."

"excuse me?"

vinnie still looked at her. his
straight face never faltering.
"i just fucking confessed to you.
why the fuck would i joke like
that? who even does that?"

and it hit stella. because who
actually jokes about liking
someone like that? that is
honestly fucking weird and is
not funny in any way. and the
look on vinnie's face is
obviously not funny.

"shut up. you were being for real?"

vinnie shook his head and
made a duh face. "yes, i was
being for real! i literally just told
you i liked you back and you
thought i was joking."

stella laughed, clearly
embarrassed as her cheeks
began to turn a shade a pink.
"i didn't know what to think! i am
so sorry, vinnie, oh my gosh."

"no, it's ok," he said, letting
out a shaky laugh, "i thought
you were going to hate me or something."

"ew, no. never. gross." she smiled. "how could i hate you? you came
all the way over here as a surprise and you even told me you liked
me when i have been liking you
for a while."

"oh?" vinnie questioned.
"you've been liking me
for a while?"

stella smiled, hugging vinnie.
"well, for a little while. i didn't
realize it until we facetimed that
day. but the thing is i'm not so
sure that i like like you, you
know?" vinnie hugged back.
