Chapter 3: Finding Out

If JongHyun was discouraged by this awful illness, now he was even more frustrated after hearing his best friend's words. A month. He is going to die in a month. In a month he won't longer exist. He will be just someone to remember. He will last one more month in this stupid, grey and dull hospital full of sick people and sadness. He feels relieved, though. He won't be listening to the machines surrounding him anymore and he won't have to watch the doctor's fake smiles, which obviously said; "You are going to die anyways."

Yet, deep inside, he was devastated. He won't see his KiBum again. He won't be able to see his smile, he won't be able to hear his nagging. He misses him so badly, but he can't tell him. It will kill him if he does. Even if it hurt like hell when he saw those tears falling, it was for the best. Sadly, JongHyun will live with that memory forever.

Flashback:

His true love was standing in front of him, clueless. He is being cold towards the younger, but it must be this way, he did a promise.

"Jjong? Is everything alright?" KiBum asked, clearly confused because of his unusual self. JongHyun was trying to find the right words. He didn't want to hurt him, but he has to. In order to make him happy.

"This..." Is there right words for breaking someone's heart? "This is over." He wanted to kill himself when he saw the confusion in his KiBum's eyes. Yet, there was understanding, as if KiBum already expected this.

"What..?" Yes, KiBum realized how distant they became the last few weeks. But he didn't know the real reason.

"This. Us. Is over." JongHyun wanted to cry, because he looked hurt. JongHyun didn't want this!

"Why?" The innocent voice of his love asked. He didn't want to say anything else. He didn't want to explain. KiBum was making it harder for him. He turned around and walked towards the door, not wanting to face his love and repeat those cruel words.

But KiBum wasn't stupid. He knew something was wrong with their relationship, and he won't let it end without a reason. He took JongHyun's arms and held it tight, demanding an answer. "Why?

Even when his voice was stern, KiBum's eyes were watery, which hurt JongHyun's heart even more. But it must be like this. He won't held him back with his illness.

"The bet is over KiBum. It's over." With this, JongHyun walked out of the building. Once the door closed behind him, the tears he hid back there flowed free by his cheeks. He didn't want to hurt him like this, he didn't want to make his love cry. But it must be like this. His KiBum smiles so beautifully, he wants to see him smiling forever, or at least know that he's happy, and the only way this could happen was with KiBum forgetting about JongHyun.

Even just to remember, it brought tears to his eyes. JongHyun wanted to hug him, kiss him, have him with him everyday. But now KiBum probably hated him. He probably doesn't want to even hear JongHyun's voice.
