Sea spray gently kissed my cheeks, and my lungs filled with the crisp morning air. The waves lapped loudly against the shore, the tide fighting to maintain its position on the sand. Seagulls called out across the water, their voices breaking into the peaceful dreams of the locals. A select few of said locals already lined the pier, casting their lines with high hopes. From my place on the waterfront, I could see a few dolphins circling the docks hungrily.
As I looked out across the massive body of water, a slight shiver ran up my spine. It astonished me that something so beautiful existed. I spread my arms wide as a gust of wind blew my jacket back. Looking up at the light pink sky, a laugh escaped my lips. Summer had arrived, and I, Violet Fields, was determined to make the most of it. I would only be seventeen once, and I had to take advantage of that.
