Chapter 15: Nightmares

Y/n's POV

Gale and I hug each other tightly, we both won! After 18 days of being in this living hell, we can finally go home. We see a hovercraft come and two ladders come down from it. We each climb up and were taken into different rooms. I don't know what they're gonna do to Gale. Are they gonna fix him? Are they gonna kill him so that they can have one victor? They better fucking not. I'm pulled into a room I frantically ask what they're gonna do to Gale but they don't answer me. There is a big clear glass wall in the room, and I can see everything that the doctors are doing to him. It looks like surgery or something. But they could be killing him for all I know, these are capital doctors, the capital! The place where they kill kids for entertainment.

I watch as they work on Gale, I call his name a few times but the guards make me shut up. I see my reflection in the glass, there are cuts and marks all over my face, a hand-shaped bruise on my neck, and my lip is cracked and bleeding. I begin to finally let all my tears flow. Happiness, fear, excitement so many emotions are going through me, how could I not cry?

We were taken back to the training center place and they sedated me. All I remember is falling into a deep sleep.

Y/n's POV

I wake up, and it feels like days later than when they drugged me and made me sleep. I'm in a recovery room, and I see that I've been changed into black shorts and a tee-shirt, I try to get up but there are restraints around my body that are keeping me stuck to the bed. I start to panic, I try hard to get free from the restraints but they don't budge. I calm down a bit and take a second to realize that I'm in the capital and I can go home soon. I look at my hands and arms and legs and see that all my scars are gone from the arena, but not only the arena, all the scars on my hands from burns at the bakery, and knife throwing accidents. They're all gone.

I see a door open and an Avox servant comes in with a tray of food. I wonder if she knows what happened to Gale.

"Is Gale alive?" I ask desperately. She nods. I let out a sigh of relief, I wasn't sure if Gale was alive or not. I think about going home, and seeing everyone again. When I first got reaped I wasn't sure if I was ever gonna see them again, but now I can go home and be happy. After eating I fall asleep again. I got through a cycle of sleeping and waking, sleeping and waking for like 2 days.

I wake up today and I see that I'm no longer held back by restraints. I get up and get out of this room for the first time in like 4 days. I walk out and see the familiar apartment building from before we went into the games. I see Haymitch, Effie, and Cinna again. I run to Haymitch and hug him which surprises him, but eventually, he hugs me back. I then hug Effie and Cinna, 

"Where's Gale?" I ask

"Don't worry sweetheart, your boyfriend is fine. But we want to save your reunion for the live television. During the victor's interview. You did great in those games. And the sponsors loved how you guys were in love the entire time." Haymitch explained

"Yeah, they sent us like 30 parachutes," I say. "So, when do I get to see Gale?"

"Tonight, during the interview. Cinna, take her to her prep team now" Effie says. Cinna walks me to my prep room and starts getting me ready for the interview. 

"So, Y/n. Tonight, at the interview, they will replay the highlights of the games, and Caesar will ask you and Gale lots of questions. Just be prepared. And he will ask you lots of questions about Yours's and Gale's relationship. Are you ready for all that?" Cinna asks me

"I think so...when do I get to go home?" I ask

"Tomorrow, I promise you."
