"before we begin, there's a few things i need to make sure you understand." Dr. Hollister stood at a window with a cup of coffee. He looked back, moving to his desk. "You see, no one can change what happened 8 years ago." He sat down in his chair, setting his coffee on a coaster. "The past is beyond our control. You have to accept this in order to move forward." He explained.

"But, there is freedom in this revelation. Everything you do, every decision you make from now on," he put his glasses on, "will open doors to the future." He picked up his pen, clicking it so the nib will pop out. "I want you to remember this. I want you to remember this as you write your story." He grabbed a clipboard, leaning back in his chair. "Every single choice will affect your fate, and the fate of those around you." He looked over his glasses. "I want to help you through this, no matter how terrifying things get. So, I want to start with a simple exercise." He tapped his pen against the clipboard a few times.

"..shall we get started?"

Adam and jack sat together on the bus, ryan sleeping with earbuds on in the seat across from them. Adam had his phone pulled out, watching a video Grant had sent to the group, jack leaning against his shoulder to watch. "How cheesy you think this is gonna get?" Jack mumbled, Adam rolling his eyes and tapping the play button.

Grant was standing in the main hall of the cabin, a smile on his face. "Well hello, guys, gals, and non-binary pals.. no.. alright lets do that again." He walked up and zoomed in on himself on the camera. "Alright.. hello, friends and fans. It's beyond awesome to finally have you back after eight years. First off, i'm super excited to welcome all my pals back to the annual blackwood winter getaway!!" He cheered after he spoke. "So uh.. lemme just let you know.. lets take a moment to adress the uh.. 'elephant in the room' so to speak. I know you all been worried about me.. and i know its gonna be tough coming back after all this time.. but i just want you all to know it means so much to me that we're doing this finally. Now that the brothers have some time off of tour.. y'know.. that kinda thing." He laughed softly.

"I know it would mean so much to sandy and gigi that we're all still together. Thinking of them. I really wanna spend some quality time with each and every one of you, and share moments that we'll never forget.. for the uh.. for the sake of my sisters, y'know?" He was silent for a moment, clearing his throat.

"So uh.. yeah.. lets.. lets party like we're fuckin' porn stars, okay? Make this a trip we'll never forget!" He smiled.

Jack started laughing, adam chuckling softly. "Grant always had a way with words, huh J?" Adam mumbled, Jack slowly looking out the window. "Yeah.. yeah, he always did."

Ryan soon woke, a police report playing through his headphones. 'in 2014, two sisters had fallen near a cabin in the blackwood mountains. An eyewitness said they saw a black figure spewing fire, causing the two sisters to fall. Their bodies were never recovered.' ryan frowned and rubbed sleep from his eyes, placing his glasses on his face as the bus slowed to a stop. The three brothers got off with their bags, looking at a hanging sign in front of them, with a cable car off in the distance.

"Blackwood pines.. thought we'd never come back." Adam mumbled as he pulled a beanie on over his long hair. Jack adjusted his trapper hat and bag, while ryan put on his beanie too. The bus drove off, leaving the three in front of the sign, snow blowing harshly, the sun fully dipping past the horizon.

The three walked forward together, ryan hearing a soft snap of a tree branch. He looked behind them. "Hello??" He called, brows furrowed. Jack looked at ryan, gently grabbing his wrist with a gloved hand. "Come on, i'm pretty sure everyone's waiting on us.." he mumbled. Ryan looked over, his eyes rolling. "Yeah, cause you decided to be late for the flight. And we had like, a shit ton of layovers." He grumbled.

Adam turned back, a brow raised. "You guys coming, or are you gonna keep bickering?" The two youngest frowned, keeping hold of each others hands as they continued forward with adam.

The three soon reached an iron gate with a note attached. Jack picked it up. "The gates busted.. climb over??" He mumbled, showing the other two. "..at least brandon was nice enough to let us know.." he grumbled, before sighing and moving to the stone on the side. "Ads, boost me up, would you?" He asked, adam doing so, jack almost expertly climbing the stones. He took his time, making sure not to slip, before perching himself on the top. "Ry, you're next." He gestured with his head.

Ryan sighed, being boosted up by Adam and grabbing jacks hand. Ryans footing slipped ever so slightly, causing him to yelp, but jack had a good hold on him as he hoisted him up and over with a grunt of effort. Ryan balanced himself, before jumping down into the snow, moving out of the way to wait for his brothers.

Jack helped adam up and over, adam landing, before jack hopped down. "High five for teamwork?" Jack smiled as he held up his hand, Ryan and adam both high fiving his hand. "High five for teamwork." Ryan nodded, before the three continued on... Though he could've sworn they were being watched.

They soon reached an informational plaque, describing butterfly prophecies, and a tribes beliefs in them. Ryan leaned down to read, the others walking forward. Jack looked at a map as they were walking past, old spray paint graffiti on it, saying 'the past is beyond our control.' "..wow.. all the way up here? Really??" He mumbled, adam moving to the door of the lift controls and trying the knob. "Brandon? You up here?" He called. The door was locked.

Ryan could hear footsteps behind him. A hand was suddenly on his shoulder. "Jesus christ-!"

( Run for adam and jack )

The hand wasn't fast enough at grabbing ryan as he turned to run for adam and jack, the two having turned because of ryans scream. The three got ready to swing.. only seeing a laughing brandon come up the steps.

"My god ry, you're such a scaredy cat!" He laughed, ryan blushing and pouting from embarassment. "Shut the fuck up-" ryan mumbled.

"Could you unlock the door so we can head up the mountain?" Jack rolled his eyes, brandon wiping his eyes and doing so. "The others should be up there- at least making their way." The four loaded on to the cable car and made their way up the mountain.

"I oughta punch you." Ryan grumbled. "Aw come on, this'll be fun! Don't be such a sourpuss." Brandon bumped the others shoulder gently. "This'll be fun! Promise!" He smiled, before he silenced himself the rest of the way up.
