Best Friend Protocol (9)
Normal has never been uneasy for me. However, those two words seem to be the only thing in my mind as I tried to balance my time with Seth and my 'relationship' with Toby. This morning, Seth picked me up on the way to school much to my surprise. I was ready to walk the couple of blocks but, before I could say calamares, he was honking outside my door riding his Porsche. Apparently, his limo driver has been given to Mandy and Mrs. A gave him full permission to be in control of the Porsche.
As expected, everyone stared at us astonished. We were back to being the casual best friends...teasing each other with Seth throwing innuendoes intentionally. Well, until Toby came into view. He was leaning against my locker, wearing his usual bad boy smirk and waiting for me. Only this time, he's carrying a bouquet of different flowers in his hands. People started to whisper when Seth threw his arm around me, pulling me closer to him once he saw the state that Toby is in. Some even stopped walking and pretended to have a casual conversation directly in the lockers in front of us. Little shits.
"Are those for me?" I pretended to be cheery as soon we were standing directly in front of Toby.
The smirk on his face changed into a grin as he pushed himself off the lockers and started handing them to me. It quickly changed into a frown once he saw Seth practically manhandling me. "I see you two made up."
Sensing the hostility, I pulled away from Seth and took the bouquet from Toby. "Just yesterday," and a quick change of subject... "These are beautiful, Toby! Thank you." I gave him a quick kiss on the cheeks and stuck my nose in the petals to smell the fresh scent of flowers.
He looked sheepish with his hand rubbing the back of his neck. "I don't know your favorite flower so I got you one of each." It took a lot of self control not to squeal in front of him right now.
"Tulips," My favorite flower left my mouth as soon as Seth reminded us of his presence by stating the same word.
Toby suddenly looked at Seth like he's asking why my best friend is still there. Seth, well, he's being an asshole by opening my locker door for me and started grabbing the book that I would need for first period. There is a smirk on his face that I can imagine yelling at Toby like: I know her locker combination and you don't. Take that, rich bad boy who's not as hot and rich as me. I cleared my throat awkwardly, watching them eye each other. "Where am I supposed to place these? I can't carry them around...they're too heavy!"
"Just toss them inside your locker and leave them to suffocate," My jaw dropped at Seth's suggestion.
"Or," Toby began, giving Seth a weirded out look. "I could carry them for you the whole day."
I let my lips turn into dazzling smile. "You would do that?"
He nodded, taking one of my hands and placing a small kiss on top of it. And he is supposed to be a bad boy. "Of course I would, babe."Holy shit. Total relationship goals moment.
Seth suddenly grabbed the fresh flowers from my grasp and raised them in the air. "Don't call her babe. I call Stacey that. Find another pet name." I buried my face in my hands at the horror of being friends with these primal males.
Toby took a step forward, not aware that I am practically squished between them right now. "Jealous, Adams?"
"Delusional, Aspen?" Seth tossed back.
