This story was the most complex I've ever written, with far more characters than I've ever tried to tackle all at once. It was always planned that Caleb was going to turn out to be 'Calvin', but the way it would be unveiled kept changing. Originally, I had both Todd and Terrance as victims, just like the rest of the cast, and was going to make the main villain some random demon. But I realized there wasn't much reason for a demon to be bothering people in this house without a tragic event drawing it in, so after my Hiatus, I rewrote the ending. The last chapter was the hardest because from day 1 of planning this book I always planned on Aaron and Caleb meeting back up in a coffee shop in the present and bonding over their weird memories of things that 'never happened. Yet the mall seemed to make more sense in the end. A few details will be getting changed to fix some plot holes and answer some questions. Overall the story was meant to be confusing, but hopefully not too confusing.
