Percy really didn't want to be here. Museums were already boring. But it was even more boring when you were there with your school. Although the topic was okayish. Greek Mythology, while definitely not his favorite, was definitely better than any boring art.
However, there was something that caught his attention. It was a long display case in which an old-looking trident stood upright. It appeared to be a dark, almost black green that turned to turquoise towards the top. It even looked like there were cracks on it, probably coming from the end appearing to be broken off, which appeared to glow cyan at the right angle.
"Poseidon's trident..." Percy read quietly, wide-eyed at the trident. Did it really exist?! He thought it was just a myth! And now here's the real one?!
"Sorry Kiddo, but that's not the real trident." A voice suddenly said next to him and Percy turned to the voice, startled. Beside him was a relatively small skeleton dressed simply in a blue hoodie and shorts. And- Were those pink slippers?!
"What do you mean by that?" The monster turned to Percy and he noticed that the skeleton smelled like the sea and fish. "Then why is it on display if it's not the real thing?"
He didn't know what was so amusing about his statement, but the skeleton monster laughed. Still, Percy waited impatiently for the skeleton to finish. "Let me tell you something kiddo. A few years ago, there was a group of fishermen who thought they could mess with a leviathan. This leviathan carried the same trident, just a lot bigger. It was about to sink that fisherman's ship in a storm."
"What happened to those fishermen?!" Percy asked excitedly, wanting to know what happened next.
Chuckling, the skeleton rubbed his hair while lovingly looking down at Percy. "The fishermen escaped alive at the mercy of another Leviathan. This trident of Poseidon is merely a replica of the real trident.”
"Wow..." Surprised, Percy looked back at the trident. Did he also have the chance to meet this leviathan who could conjure up storms? He would really like to meet him. "Mister, do you know where I can find the Leviathan?" But as soon as he turned to the skeleton monster, it was gone and nowhere to be seen. Percy looked for it for a while before giving up and catching up with his class instead.
Sans sadly looked after the child. He missed being with his family. Maybe it was time to go home. Papyrus would definitely be happy.
