Six months have passed, my breath was being held in front of the village. My donkey stirred restlessly next to me, the black vials jiggling slightly. Senku was tinkering with something with a sad look in his eyes. He looked up and saw me, a large smile dawning on his face. Tears flowed down his cheeks, regret burning in his eyes. I was about to set the bag down and leave when back pain brought me to my knees. Hot liquid soaked my legs, the pain getting twice as bad. He rushed to my side, concern flashing in my eyes.
"Sorry for what I said to you." He said, waving for help. "I am glad that I met you." My fingers intertwined with his, another contraction destroying me. Biting my lips, my eyes met him with a sorrowful look.
"I am sorry that I lied." I apologized weakly, the maternity lady guiding us to the medical hut. "I don't tend to stay where I am not wa-" A scream poured from my lips, my hand gripping his tighter. They laid me down, my vision blurred. Darkness enveloping me.
"Britt." My mother called out. "I love you." She stumbled in blood soaking her entire body. My legs were frozen in my spot, her smile fading. James stepped up behind her looking gray and lifeless, a ring sitting on his palm.
"You little whore." He taunted cruelly, throwing it at me. "You were supposed to be mine your whole life. Die with me." My heart pounded faster, my chest tightening. My mother touched my shoulder, blood dyeing my long white gown red. Hate darkened her eyes, a frown formed on her blue lips.
"You should have stayed to protect me." She whispered in my ear, gripping my neck. "Now die!" Sammy's laughter exploded all around me, strings shining in the new red light of my dream. His hands lifted James and mother, swinging them all around.
"NO!" I screamed, trying to run. "Let me go. I don't deserve to live." They all started laughing at me, stabbing me in the gut. A noose fell around my neck, the rope creaking tighter. Panic gripped my mind.
"Britt!" Senku's voice echoed around me. "Please wake up." My father waved his arms around shoving them all away. Hot salty tears flooded from my eyes, his arms wrapping around me. Relief washed over me, his woodsy smell making a sad smile grow on my face.
"You need to wake up, my dear." He urged gently, taking my hands. "You have two children to bring into this world. I will see you soon."
Jerking awake, multiple hands held me down. Senku had tears falling down his cheeks, a sad smile dimmed his pale face. His hand gripped mine tighter, the Doula telling me that it was time to push. Minutes passed, a loud cry breaking the silence. Pain still aches in my body, another bout of intense pressure. A couple of pushes later, another cry rang out in the night. Tears flooded from my eyes, the two children bawling away. Pride illuminated his ruby gems, relief washing over me. My vision blurred again, darkness swallowing me whole.
