Malachi's P.O.V.

“Huff. It all started on Malachi's first birthday.” James begins with a sigh.

My seat felt uncomfortable as James utter those words, for some reason it felt like I was sitting on nails;and no matter how much I shifted my weight; it still pierces through the thickness of my jeans. What those he mean?, Is it my fault that he uprooted us from our home; I can't believe this; like he said it was my first birthday, so I can't be hold accountable for his decision as a parent, yet still, I felt slightly responsible as he continues his unloading.

“Lora and I were so happy to have produce a love child; our little family was coming together, and I was finally starting to making a name for myself; after I left your pack. Things were going great and all the chips were falling in to place, but you know how the humans always say; it can't always be hearts and rainbow” he pauses to take a deep breath before continuing. “ On his first birthday something happened that wasn't normal; there was this hairy feeling of impending doom through the entire day and a slight vibration that buzz around him before it came crashing down, you felt it earlier today; the undeniable blast of power that came from him which That compels you to do as he says, and to the unbearable need to submit to him.” He pauses before asking.

“You felt it, Colton!” He asks while looking from Colton to Mary-lee.

“Yes, we felt it” they confirm.

“Just like you did others felt it too, but at that time; and at such a tender age, it was more vigorous, and it exceeded it's out reached across the pack land. It would hold pack members hostage for hours when he got too upset, which didn't sit well with Alpha Trent. He didn't like the idea of a baby holding that much power over him and his pack; so he planned with the elders, some witches, and warlocks to eradicate Malachi and us,” he told us.

And, Mary-lee right hands quickly cover her mouth in shock while The mutt's hands clench into a tight fist as his jaws constrict at his dear friend who conjures up the past events of his life; I too felt immense bitterness toward this unknown Alpha.

“Grrr” Alistair growls his hatred as Hayden secure his hold on my tense.

“So we left everything behind and ran for our lives before his plan could bear any fruit. But running wasn't enough for him because he wanted us dead and that was that; so for Nineteen years we have been running; never trusting anyone or staying in one place too long, But he recently found us again in Lockwood ---” Colton interrupts.

“What. Why didn't you call me from the beginning?”  Colton bickers with rage, “I could have help, we are best friends, damn it!” He shouts.

I didn't know how to feel, my muscles feels constricted under my skin, and a small part of me feels utterly enraged at this pathetic Alpha and his vendetta against us. But an even bigger part felt shame and regret for blaming my parents. For repeatedly calling James a coward when I didn't know the full story, the shame, and guilt was excruciating;I mean, how could I belittle them when I was the reason we did have an ordinary life?

“ You were just crowned the Alpha and had big dreams for the pack, plus I would rather not burden you” James responds to Colton.

“That's no excuse. We're best friends; you call when you're in trouble and I come running, That's what we do.” He said dryly.
