"Detective Black. Detective Black!" calls out someone from behind me. I turn around and come face to face with my boss, Captain Ambrose Dexter, or Captain Dex as everyone calls him.

He drinks way too much and I'm pretty sure he's somewhat involved with mafia gangs but oh well, he's my boss. What can I do? Shoot him? Yeah, I've tried that before.

Unfortunately, his stupid ass of a bodyguard got in the road and took the shot for him. Captain Dex even has a fucking memorial for that son of a bitch who scored a couple bullets in me, last summer.

"Take a deep breath, let it go, Detective Black. This is a much different case that I'm going to assign you." Captain Dex informed me, "Detective Roux won't be joining you this time on your case, another detective will be."

Captain Dex took me into his office where I then sat down and waited for the apparent detective that I was going to have to baby sit this time. I actually hate having partners because it means you have to share everything or something. Maeve is really the only person like that.

On the other hand, I'm much more a solo person myself. Captain Dex normally partners me up with Maeve anyway, because Maeve is 'different' from the rest in some way or another and nobody wants her.

That's really mean, so when we became friends, ever since then Captain Dex has being trying to separate us and I really don't like that. "So, who are you partnering me up with them, Cap?" I ask impatiently.

"Don't worry, you'll find out. Please come in, Detective Williams." Captain Dex answers me and the detective pushes the door open. The new detective has a strong and firm grip as he shakes Captain Dex's hand.

He has beautiful brown hair, and blue green eyes. He wears a black long sleeve shirt, a white tie, long pants and a black blazer to accompany it. "Well, well. I would like you to meet, Detective Archie Williams. He's from our other district, a couple of hours away, just transferred here in fact."

"Well, who is this then?" He asks, his voice is husky at first but eventually softens out to a Ryan Reynolds kind of tone. The tone you'd wish could send you to sleep or send you to a place that you'd never want to wake up from.

"Detective Williams, I want to introduce you to our top CIA detective here, Detective Astoria Black. She is the lead detective in this case and she will be your partner for this case." Captain Dex says, turning on the fan.

"Well, isn't she a peach? Perhaps you should give me the reins, Captain Dex, so we don't bruise her." Detective Williams smirked. That remark, just that remark reminded me of something my mum had said.

Don't let people treat you like a cigarette. They will only use you when they're bored and step on you when they're done. Be like drugs, let them die for you. "Detective Black will show you around our little joint here. Detective, please make Williams feel comfortable and be nice."

Of courseee.
