My eyes fluttered against the harsh light inviting itself through my curtains. Today. Today is the day that I will meet Ricardo Garcia in person. Begrudgingly I got out of my bed and dragged my feet to the bathroom.
I turned on the shower as I took off my clothes, the cold air rushing at my body almost immediately. I instinctively run my hand over my scar, it fading away as the days go on. I can't even remember a time when these started.
Stepping slowly I raised a foot to enter the shower and the other shortly followed, reaching up onto the shower shelf to bring down my shampoo I remembered that I had only 30 minutes left before I had to get changed. I rubbed the shampoo between my hands and lathered my hair with it, after rinsing this off I stroked the conditioner into my hair, rinsed it and applied my body wash. The vanilla scent flooded the bathroom as I just stood there, thinking.
Why did Mr Garcia want to meet me? It doesn't make any sense I mean it's not like there's anything he would gain from it, his mafia has more money coming in then ours does so if anything we're the ones who would benefit. I guess that explains why my father was so happy.
You know what I'm overthinking this, maybe there's no answer to why he chose me and maybe it was completely random.
I stepped out of the shower careful not to slip as I made my way to the wardrobe.
I reached up to the hanger my dress hung from and cautiously brought it down, after making sure everything was perfect with it I proceeded to head towards my bed on which I laid the dress on.
I thoroughly dried myself with the towel and placed my dress over my body. The red still glimmered beneath the light no matter what direction I was facing. Now my makeup. Ok this shouldn't be too hard so many people do it themselves and I am going to be one of them.
*30 minutes later*
AHHHHH. IT'S ALL GOING WRONG. EVERYTIME I APPLY IT, IT ENDS UP LOOKING CLUMPY AND DISGUSTING. WHY IS THIS SO HARD? That's what she said. I officially give up, my life is now over because I can't apply one layer of makeup. I might as well just drown myself at the bottom of a secluded river, somewhere no one can find me.
"Dahlia honey come down we need to leave now".
No mother we do not need to leave you just want to leave so you can go flirt with Mr Garcia.
I knew I couldn't arrive at their house with a bare face so I quickly and I mean quickly applied a layer of foundation, concealer and subtle eyeshadow. The only thing that I did right was applying my lipgloss.
I rushed downstairs careful not to trip over my heels.
"Ok ok no need to worry I'm here now".
"Dahlia honey you look...."
My dad waved a hand in her face to cut her off as he hurridely guided us to the limo.
Was she going to say the dress looks beautiful? Was she going to say my makeup looks like a kid drew on my face? I don't know the answer to this so I remained hopeful and thought it wasn't the latter.
My two brothers were sat opposite me. The oldest, Daniel Kingston, wore a dark grey suit which matched with my other brother's, Hayden Kingston. Daniel and Hayden are 23 and 22 years old which may make you think that they're mature but I assure you, they're not. Daniel can be serious when he wants to othertimes he's just a bully to me and Hayden. Hayden. Bless him, he's so dumb and careless it makes me feel sorry for whoever's going to marry his stupid self.
"You look ugly" stated Hayden with a grin on his face.
"Thanks" I replied with a sarcastic smile and he seemed confused as to why I replied so nicely.
