Chapter 9: Sam

I woke up with the sun this morning. Last night came rushing back as I pulled out of my bed. The parties were fun and both my performances were widely appreciated by the audience. I found myself smiling, not because of my successful performance but because today I have a date with Anna.

Other than a meeting with a record producer, I was free for the entire day. Where should I take her? She is really a very modest person; will she like a fancy restaurant? I don't think she will. She will think that I am a rich spoiled brat, which really doesn't matter because she already thinks that. This is really confusing.

While I was thinking, I brushed my teeth and took a shower. After drying myself with a towel, I stood in front of my wardrobe and pulled out a faded blue t-shirt to wear and black jeans to go along with it. I brushed my hair and then messed them up a little. After getting ready, I made some breakfast for myself. Robbie had stayed over at Melanie's after the party. While eating breakfast I looked through good restaurants around the city. I found one really great yet modest one by the beach and made the reservations.

The clock showed dot twelve when I entered the apartment after the meeting. It wasn't a long meeting yet I felt a bit exhausted. I had bought a takeout lunch as I was in no mood to cook. After having my lunch, I tried again to write a song. No matter what I came up with, it felt wrong in some way. Eventually, I gave up and took a nap.

I woke up just after five and after stretching out a bit, I began to get ready for tonight's date. I chose a dark blue shirt along with faded blue jeans. I decided to go with a cleaned-up look. I again took a shower. I don't know why but I wanted this date to go well. I wanted her to like me. After getting dressed up I sprayed some cologne as well. I took a good look at myself in the mirror and made sure that everything was perfect.

I arrived in front of Anna's house at 6:55, parked the car, went upstairs and rang the bell. Anna opened the door and I stood completely frozen. She was wearing a knee length light pink coloured floral dress. Her chestnut brown hair cascaded down her shoulders. Her one hand grabbed the knob of the door and the other the string of her purse. She looked beautiful. I couldn't take my eyes off her. She smiled and said, "You're right in time."

"You look beautiful." I said

She smiled again and said thank you.

"Shall we?" I asked.

She stepped out and softly closed the door behind her.

"Yes"

And thus began our first date.
