new destination

our new destination was set further in north carolina, still very many trees, we were set on an empty farm—it looked like it hasn't be walked on in years.

"alright, we have an addition to zfiles!" a man announced, standing on the truck, a car pulls in, we watched many people get out, about twenty.

and one last person, timothée, he stood there. and in those seconds he fell to one knee, his eyebrows pulled together, "belle?" he says.

she runs to him, hugging him. "dad," she says quietly, tears roll down her face.

she was a tiny, brown hair, brown eyes, she had perfectly shaped eyebrows, she did look like a miniature princess.
she has his eye shape, his smile.
she was beautiful just like him.

timothée was so happy, the excitement and thrill opening his arms to her, the way he fell into her shoulders—with a single touch.

it was magical.

"uncle clyde," she smiled, hugging him too.

"captain. how is my daughter here? it doesn't make sense?" he asked.

"a change in blood pattern. as soon as we were alerted we took in many children. before anyone can hurt them,"

a change in blood pattern. how was that humanly possible?

"you're just like your father and me," clyde says, referring to the blood type.

"i want you to meet someone belle," timothée holds her hand. she looks up at me, she's still behind her dad.

"she's a little shy," timothée says.

"i'm lacy," i introduced myself.

"lacy?" her face drops a little.

"mhm,"

she nods, smiling a little, she wore a ponytail and tucked her loose hairs behind her ears, " your name reminds me of lace—that was my teddy bear name," she says softly.

timothée takes out the bear, "lacy kept this for you," he says.

belle holds the bear, "can i hug you?" she asked.

i laughed, "yes, it wasn't just me—your dad kept lace safe too," i whispered against her head.

"thank you. lacy and dad, both of you," she nods smiling shyly, just before hiding behind her dad again.
"my name is belle by the way," she says, swaying her arms.

"hi belle," i smiled again.

"alright, get on inside," timothée says, belle walks in, he looks at me, "i was talking about you too," he smiled.

"fine. fine," i say

i follow behind belle, she looked back at me each time with curiosity and a soft smile. he goes to grab belle, she laughs, "i missed you kid!"

we sat in the room playing cards, sophie sits beside me. "wheres clyde?" she asked.

"sophie, do you have a crush on my really really old brother?" timothée smiled.

"no?" she rolls her eyes, "i know my limits, he's just fascinating to look at,"

"he's downstairs," he smiled,
"how's the team?"

"terrible. it's falling apart," sophie says.

"i'll go, if anyone needs me," timothée says. "and i know it isn't my turn, but who really pays attention to the rosters,"

"no," sophie mumbled, "your daughter is here, you can't do that,"
"belle, should be your main priority,"

soon enough, we cleaned the cards, timothée sat there, just thinking, we gave him time to think, but something told me he wouldn't listen.
