"I don't say 'bleh bleh blehh'!" the TV blared as Luz howled with laughter.
"Is this really what humans think vampires look like?" Amity stifled a chuckle as she turned to Luz with a quizzical look.
"I mean, kinda?" Luz offered with an uncertain grin.
"What do you mean, 'kinda'?" Amity quirked a brow, her curiosity resulting in a look of deep thought from her human counterpart.
"Well," Luz began after several pensive moments, pausing the TV and shifting her position on the couch to better see her girlfriend. "For the most part, yeah, humans portray vampires as dark and brooding, but unlike in this film, they are usually a lot more... serious, I guess? Or stoic?" Luz chuckled lightly.
"I see," Amity nodded following along.
"Like in most films, vampires hail from
noble families and have personalities that are cold or detached in comparison to when they were human," Luz explained. "But of course that's mainly after they've been shown to've endured years of suffering and loss... and killing humans to drink their blood which is a whole other brand of trauma entirely and-""Wait, wait, wait," Amity interjected, wincing slightly as she adjusted herself on the couch, sitting upright from her previously reclined position. "You mean to tell me humans think vampires used to be human? And that they kill humans for blood?" Amity asked with a look of slight shock.
"Mhmm," Luz nodded, "and they can be killed by garlic and the sun. Oh! And some even sparkle!"
"That's just so..." Amity began after several moments of hesitation.
"Painfully accurate?" Luz asked eagerly.
"...Wrong," Amity concluded, turning back to face the TV.
"Whattt?" Luz groaned, turning away in a mix of confusion and exaggerated disappointment. "So they don't sparkle?"
Shaking her head with a soft smile, Amity laughed lightly, "or drink blood."
"Wait, really?" Luz questioned, carefully lifting Amity's legs onto her lap as she scooted in closer and prepared to listen. "I take it there are vampires on the Boiling Isles then?"
"Yeah," Amity nodded in confirmation, "and they're actually a traditionally vegetarian species of demon, not to mention they are known for their earthy and laid back demeanor."
"REALLY?!" Luz exclaimed.
"Yep," Amity laughed. "Guess we better add this to our growing list of demon lore that human's got wrong. Though to be fair, now that I'm here, it would seem that we got a lot wrong about your world too."
"You got that right," Luz smiled, mindlessly picking at the plaster encasing her girlfriend's foot. "I mean you guys thought possums were just a myth!"
"Well yeah, I mean look at them! What kind of creature walks around with mini versions of themselves on their backs?!" Amity frowned in slight disbelief despite having seen the animal in person.
"Um, those are its babies??" Luz laughed.
"Still!" Amity huffed.
"Alright, alright," the human laughed, leaning back into the arm of the couch. "I guess both our worlds have a lot to learn about one another, huh?"
