"I guess...." I replied with heavy confusion evident in my slightly concerned tone of voice. I'm going to just ignore that!
The prince then suddenly flopped down onto his seat and rested his forehead on his hand with the same energy as someone who just found out their older sibling thinks reindeer are fake because they are like Santa.
I pity you prince... you got yourself one weird cousin, I thought so when we first met and still think so now even after a few years. I didn't meet him often but he definitely left a strong first impression on me.
Other than that, I didn't know how else to feel. I ended up just ignoring it because I felt awkward lingering on the subject.
"Well, anything else you guys want to know about?" I asked the class which had quietened down after the commotion caused by the prince's sudden statement.
"It was said you were missing for a few years, what happened?" A girl towards the back of the class who didn't speak with me much asked with a cautious tone to her curious voice.
"It's a long story." I said with a slight hesitance, I don't care about my father's reputation even if he's dead, but I don't want the news to negatively affect my brother or my home.
"Please tell us when you feel you can sir." Yelled a voice from the mid left side of the room, most likely one of the boys who liked to mess about but was still a good kid.
"Thanks for your consideration and understanding, I'll make sure to tell you guys when I can..." I said between deep breths with a wistful expression resting on my face without my knowledge. After a few more minutes the bell went meaning it was now time for classes to change, clubs to start or school to finish. It was the two latter in this cass for most, some would take additional classes for extra help or credit depending on they're level of understanding. High level students would sometimes go to extra courses to get extra qualifications to add to they're future résumé in order to further impress any possible imployers in the world of work. It sometimes confused me how the job searching system was both simular and different to the system of my past world in a simplified way, in my opinion.
You can get qualifications from completing your education, those results are compiled onto a résumé along with any work experience you have regardless of what type. That is then presented to possible imployers (in most cases) and the imployers decide whether to hire you or not. Some jobs don't require a résumé, like adventurers and other simular profesions that aren't limited in the amount of positions available, not to say their isn't competition for work but to say their is no limits to the amount of people who can register and be accepted as long as they pass the specified test for the profession in question.
I didn't have any responsibility that kept me from leaving now, or even earlier since I wasn't actually working today. After letting my class know that there would be an official assembly about this tomorrow, I left before they soon after followed my lead and funneled out of the classroom as if it was a prison break.
When the day of the big assembly arrived I was kind of nervous, I had told my form class already, but only my form class knew so I was already overthinking all the possible reactions of both my other students and of my coworkers as they had also been lied to. I really hope no one comes to hate me or gets too upset over this matter, at the time it was for my safety that I had to lie!
As I was procrastinating over this I noticed that the curtains had started to be drawn, which was my cue to go on stage and start explaining about, well, everything.
Without realising I had worked up a cold sweat from the nerves. I realised due to a cold breeze that blew by and sent an intense chill down my spine.
ACT NATURAL!!!
"Hey guys! Most of you would already know me, but for those who haven't had the pleasure you may have heard of me being address by the name Mr.Vee? Well, today I'm here to tell everyone my full name and identity." Was my opening line. Stress~ful! I could hear chattering as I talked but as time went on the amount of mutters I could make out decreased and what little remained was focused on the topic of my announcement that I would be revealing who I am, and this reaction wasn't limited to just the students.
"Once I reveal my identity you may have lots of questions so I will be taking questions for a limited time during the assembly afterwards. Make sense? Good. My full name is... Charlie Elliot Valentine, the previously missing son of the deceased Archduke Valentine." Having said my peace it felt as I'd a large weight was lifted from my shoulders however the relief was soon after forgotten as I was buried in questions from students and teachers alike.
"Your the rumored magical genius from a few years ago!"
"Why did you run away?"
"What made you choose to work at the academy?"
"Did you really make a pig fly?"
"Charlie Valentine? Who's that?"
"An unparalleled, once in a century magic genius. Also the youngest ever graduate of this academy!"Comments like these echoed and bounced around the hall that once seemed too large and empty yet now gave the impression that it was too full and was overcrowded.
Was this a mistake? Oh well, too late to worry about it all now. My main remaining concern was the king. I had gotten news that I needed to visit the palace soon to officially announce my return and also my position as the heir apparent, as my brother currently has no children or even a partner.

Sorry for the long wait, got a major case of writers block and was struggling on how to finish the chapter in a way I was happy with.
