Just an object

An object consisting of connected atoms
Just like anything else
An object that can't act
An object that can be wrecked

But still an object that can be used to hurt
And harm people, to make them feel like dirt, like they don't have any worth

Other people see a belt
I see every bad emotion I have felt
I see the guilt
And the pain
The fear and the ungiven help
I see the violence and brutality
And the inability of setting myself free

When you see a piece of leather you wear for practical reasons

I see everything that gives my heart freezings
I see anything my mind needs
To shut down
And drown
And be pushed back in the past
And make those thoughts and feelings last
A span of time longer than a flight
From New York to Amsterdam

I look at this object can't see what I can
But what I can't do,
couldn't do
What I should have done
Or how I might have gone
How I resisted to fight
Resisted to stand up for my identity and life

Because I was scared to death
In front of a human I declared, to be my hell
And I still am, scared

Just an object
You say
But you don't understand
You never will
Never felt or feel this horrible way
I do
And that's something I never wish for you to(o)

But please don't look at my panicking soul and say
Just an object
When my tears stream and I fade

For you it's
Just and object

For me it's
Years of neglect
And pain
And lies
And cries
And tears and blood and screams, down in hell

So please believe me when I tell, you
It's not,
Just an object
