Hello readers, my temporarily my first work, 'When saphirres meet emeralds' because the whole thing needs work. I came up with this plot idea recently, and decided to give it a shot. I'm personally excited to see where this story leads us, and I hope you will feel the same way after reading!

I looked down on my mom's old wrist watch. It was the only heirloom that got salvaged when I was kicked out of my house. There wasn't much time to pack because before long, all of my stuff was thrown out on my old front lawn. It all happened because of something only fate could control. When I refused to reject all of my soulmarks. You see, you decide whether you want your soulmates or not when you get the soulmarks at the ripe age of 18. I had to get as much as I could and stuff it all in my scrappy car I used all my savings for, when I got my license 2 years ago. I had lived all of my life with my parents.

Fast forward to moving from Central City to Gotham, and by some miracle landing Gotham Academy's multiple soulmate scholarship. My grades have never been a problem for me in school, thank god. I didn't think I would actually be able to juggle that on top of an unstable homelife. Standing in front of the grand gates to the private school, I shuddered at the thought of being late on my first day. Therefore, the most natural thing for me would be showing up when the school opens, so that I could take the tour offered to me.

A girl with long blonde hair in a low ponytail waved me down. 'Hey, I'm Artemis. Welcome to Gotham Academy.' 'Hello, my name is Arabella. How did you know I was new?' 'Well besides sticking out because of your height, how tall are you by the way? 6'2 atleast? Do you play basketball or something? Jesus... Anyway, you also looked completely lost.' I blushed at her obvious observation. '6'3' actually, but that's not important, can we maybe start the tour?' I ask. 'Sure, let's begin with the sports facilities here. Though it is a very academically strong school, there are still some pretty cool things to do in P.E. Well, if you're the type to exercise and such.. Look, can I just be honest with you? Instead of detention, I got the option to just show you around. And since you're here on a scholarship, the welcome is standard at best.' I nodded at her words, taking in and appreciating the honesty for once.

Soon enough, the tour was over, and I was left at my locker with only five minutes to spare before class. Quickly stuffing all my stuff in, and speeding over the sea of people, still sticking out. I hunched my back and lowered my head. My height has always been my biggest insecurity and my most prideful feature. Questions asking if I was a model or played some sort of sport, despite how disheveled I looked. I longed for being small and protected, like everyone else is. Not that I couldn't hold my own. But then again, it wasn't only bad. If I walked with baggy clothes at night, people would presume I was a man. THAT is, in my opinion, essential in a city such as Gotham.

Eventually I reached my first class, AP history. I had to take at least two AP classes because of the scholarship, so I chose the subjects I'm strongest in; history and biology. When I came into class, I gave the teacher a slip, which he signed, before telling me to introduce myself. 'Hello, my name is Arabella Bishop. I come from Central city, and I'm 18 years old. Also, I'm a scholarship student, if that matters.'

I took a deep breath after he told me to go sit next to some random kid. Thanking whatever gods there were, for getting a seat at the window. One of my soulmarks started scratching when I spotted a super tall guy with back hair, about to get into a limo. Though he suddenly froze. Scratching the same place my soulmark was before looking around. He smirked when he spotted me through the one-story window. Heat crawled up my neck as he resumed getting into the limo. I had a feeling it wouldn't be the last time I saw him around..
