The revelation in the cafe left Rosie not only speechless but in a dilemma. What should she do? What COULD she do? She now, thanks to Claire, had Tom's contact details but there was still something holding her back. What if Claire had exaggerated or worse just plain misunderstood how much Tom missed her? Could she risk THAT much disappointment again?
They'd parted with Rosie promising to think about things overnight and let Claire know what she'd decided. Her friend, because after everything they had shared, that's what she was, was keen to make sure she neither rushed things nor indeed wasted her second, second chance. She also shared the very real desire to rub Katy's nose in it. One way or another, she agreed, Katy would get what she deserved.
The next day, as she stood, holding the train of her mistress, her mind was definitely not in 18th century Scotland, it was still quite firmly in 21st century London. Holding a 21st century man in her arms. She was so far away in fact, that she didn't hear the call to 'CUT' until Jenna came up to her and whispered "Earth to Rosie!" in her ear. Jumping a mile, she came back to reality with a start and a blush, her colleagues laughing good naturedly. Normally she was the one on point, the one right there in the moment, the one who could tell everyone else their lines so a little absence was indulged. As they broke the scene for a break, Jenna came back up to her and took her aside.
"Don't worry, nothing wrong" she said reassuringly seeing the look on Rosie's face "just want to give you a quick heads' up. We have a couple of important visitors coming to the set tomorrow, so we want to start early so I have time to schmooze with them and still make the schedule? Can you be here for 6.00am? I'd like to get your scenes done early doors since they're the technical ones."
Rosie heaved a sigh of relief, "of course, no problem at all, I drive anyway so I just have to crawl out my bed that little bit earlier" she laughed.
"thanks Lovely, " Jenna replied looking relieved "see you in the morning - have the rest of the day off. I think I want to do some principal close up shots while the light is good so we wont need you. Save you hanging about. Why don't you go and get a massage or a pamper, you look tired sweetie, it's been a testing time for you I think." she meant it kindly, so Rosie took her at her word and nodded.
"maybe I will, I do have a lot on my mind at the moment I need to deal with" she started to walk away so didn't hear Jenna mutter to herself, "yeah, and tomorrow you'll HAVE to deal with it sweetie" grinning all the while.
The next morning dawned beautiful and clear. Despite the early start, Rosie felt refreshed and renewed. A massage, a movie - marvel of course - and an early night had settled her mind. She had decided to give it a shot. She knew she would be in London for the interior shoot in a couple of weeks so that was when she would do it. She would call him. Maybe. Sort of. As she drove nearer to the set, she felt herself slipping back into the old doubts. By the time she pulled up, got out and crossed to the wardrobe and makeup tent, she was in as much of a dilemma as always. Oh Rosie, she thought to herself, you're an idiot. You just don't know when to stop thinking do you?
She was just about to give herself another internal lecture when who should walk up to her but Katy. Outwardly Rosie gave no hint of animosity. She wasn't going to be the one to start anything. Inwardly she just wanted to slap the life out of her. Rising above the internal monologue raging in her mind, she smiled a frosty but polite greeting.
"Morning Katy. Nice day for it" she passed her by, not wanting to make a scene. Katy on the other hand just couldn't resist another free go.
"Yes, isn't it? I'm surprised you're here so early? Wouldn't have thought minor people like extras would be that important for today. Not since we're hosting important VIP's. Who told you to come in?" she emphasised the "we" to make herself sound important as usual.
