It was dark outside and out in the middle of the woods just outside of Mystic Falls there were a couple. They had been sleeping soundly in the comfort of their tent but it seemed like they weren't alone. A rustling could be heard outside of the tent but both of them remained unalert. It wasn't until a banging sound rang out near them that the girl sleeping shot up with a gasp. Glancing toward her significant other, she shook him. "Hey!" She begged until he finally shook awake. "Did you hear that?" Glancing back toward the doorway for the tent, she initially looked at it when she was rudely awakened. It was closed still but there was a creeping feeling inside of her stomach. Slowly sitting up next to her, he scratched the back of his head as he yawned.

"Hear what?" His voice shook as he finished yawning. Looking toward the door, where she seemed to be drawn to. He furrowed his brows before looking back at her. She swallowed.

"I think it was thunder." It had been a loud bang. Enough to awaken her from a dead sleep but there didn't seem to be any other noises, not even the sound of rain against their tent. The man shook his head.

"There's no thunder." Looking at him, she raised her eyebrows. It was only a couple of hours before the comet and she was determined to see it.

"Are you sure? If it rains we won't be able to see the comet!" Her voice was both saddened and worried. Realizing how upset she is, he smiles at her. Extending his right hand to rub his thumb across her cheek. He was going to wait until after they saw the comet to surprise her, but maybe giving her the present now would make her calm down.

"Listen, it's not going to rain but I got you a surprise. It's back in the car, stay right here." Slowly removing himself from beneath the cover, he pulled his jacket on and slipped into his tennis shoes. As he was unzipping the tent, she leaned forward.

"Stay dry?" He glanced back with a smile but as he turned to step out of the tent he rolled his eyes. Leaving the door wide open, he walked away from their little spot in the woods and over to where their car was parked.

"It's not gonna rain!" He yelled back to her as he made his way. Sitting quietly in the tent, she wraps her arms around herself. She feels colder for some reason. It must be the rain coming in closer. It didn't matter what he said, she had heard thunder. After a few minutes have passed there is a dripping noise that starts to sound above her. Looking up, she sees the darkened spots on the tent.

"Hah!" She exclaims as she smiles. "I knew it." It was raining. "Now he's going to get soaked." She sighed and shook her head but as each second passed she grew concerned. What was taking him so long? Slowly, she peaks her head from the tent but realizes that there isn't any rain. However, the sound on the tent continued to drip. Removing herself from the tent, she steps out and turns to look at their small temporary shelter. Slowly, her face turns into an expression of pure horror as she sees her boyfriend hanging upside down. He is clearly dead and blood is dripping from his head onto the tent. A shrill scream escapes her lips as she turns and races toward the car. She is running so quickly that she slams into the driver's side door and bounces back rapidly pulling at the handle. "Come on! Please! No!" She says helplessly as tears begin streaming down her face. He had never made it to the car. Just as she stops and turns to look back at his dangling body, she realizes she needs to get the keys. However, as she steps away from the car a beep is heard. Looking back, she sees the lights flicker. Informing her the doors were no longer locked. Her brows furrow again as she tries to understand how the doors could be unlocked if her boyfriend still had the keys. Turning her head back to where his body was dangling in the distance a man is there but as she blinks he disappears. In a matter of seconds, she is taking a step toward the dead body of her boyfriend. The man drops from the trees in front of her. She screams as he smirks and attacks her. Draining her of her life.
