the music finally felt quiet.
I closed the bathroom door and sat on the floor, resting my head on the sink.
A tear flowed down my cheek causing me to scoff quietly. ‚Stupid' i thought to myself and wiped it off. A sudden wave of exhaustion struck me causing my eyes to shut, probably because of the alcohol in my system.
'Literally why are you crying' I cringed at myself and lifted my head in order to stop the waterfall i knew was coming.
"Dorcas?" i heard a voice through the door and hummed in response. "Can i come in? You alright?"
"Yeah"
The voice chuckled "Yeah, i can come in or yeah you're fine?"
"Both" i said in response and looked up hearing the door opening.
"Dorcas" the voice softened when our eyes met.
"What" i asked and a smirk formed on my lips causing "the voice" who was not only a voice anymore, to roll her eyes. "What!" i repeated
"Nothing!" Marlene raised her hands in defense and closed the door while sliding down the wall to sit in front of me "You just.. you looked a little gloomy when you left the common room so i thought maybe you'd use.. a friend"
"A friend you say" i smirked
"Yes, a friend." she said firmly and our eyes met again. She looked tipsy, but probably so did I. "You know, a person you can TALK to if you nee-"
"Oh come on i know what a FRIEND is, Marlene" i rolled my eyes.
"So?" she asked after a moment of silence "What is it?"
"What is what, I just said i was fine" Another moment of silence.
i sighed.
"Okay, yes, maybe i've been a little stressed lately but it's truly none of you your concern!" my words came out a little harsher then i intended them too.
"Sorry" i sighed again "Maybe i am in fact .. very stressed" i chuckled nervously not liking where the conversation was going.
"What's the matter? " Marlene's voice sounded worried.
"Nothing. Really Mar, come on, we should be on a party, i don't want to-"
"Do you want to go somewhere else then?" she interrupted me and i saw the look in her eyes changing.
"Why?"
She must've heard the hesitation in my voice cause a smirk formed on her lips while replying "To help you relax of course"
She was not thinking clearly, i knew it but neither was I so I just nodded in response. 'I'll blame it on the alcohol tomorrow if anything happens' I thought to myself and left the bathroom after Marlene. We didn't really have any trouble sneaking back to the dormitory. Well, maybe a little because I tripped a couple times making her laugh which resulted in waking up some of the paintings.
"We should've stayed in the bathroom" i complained and tripped again. My legs were not functioning and it was to say at least, embarrassing. She laughed again and i growled in response.
"Do you want me to carry you, baby?" i heard and felt a tingling feeling in my stomach. And not only the stomach.
"Oh it's so easy to make you nervous, no wonder you're stressed all the time!" Marlene giggled and hugged me from behind. We stopped walking.
"Mar, i'm cold, let's go" i said feeling uneasy. 'Maybe it was not a good idea'. i started cursing myself and suddenly,, my brain shut down.
i felt a wet kiss on my neck. My stomach twisted.
"Mar-"
"Shh" she whispered in my skin causing shivers. She sighed quietly and stepped back "You're right, let's go"
We started walking again. This time in faster and in silence, our hands brushing into each other's occasionally.
Our dormitory was quite far from the bathroom so by the time we arrived i felt completely sober. I wondered if Mar did too. We haven't really spoken a word for the rest of the walk.
"Pistachio cream" The door opened and Mar quietly let me in. I felt her eyes on my back.
I wondered if she also started regretting this little situation we got ourselves in.
But before i could say anything she smoothly placed her hand around my waist and quickly led me towards the stairs before anybody could notice our return. Not like they noticed we were gone in the first place. Almost everybody in the common room was either drunk or passed out by the time I left.
We went up the stairs and when we were about to enter our room, I turned around. Our eyes finally met.
