At one point in his life, Will believed in dragons and mermaid and big friendly giants, however the reality of these not existing came crashing down on him when his best friend went missing. His name was Dan, he was a gorgeous man though he wasn't quite Wills taste. When they both turned 12, they were thrown into their stricter educations on how to look after their land and their village members. The main jobs that are taken on in the village are medical workers, carers, farmers, hunters and chefs, all other roles were often adopted by those who weren't able to work or those who didn't complete their education. Will was a lucky one, he finished his education and became a nurse, his days forever being brightened and dampened at the flick of a switch dependant on his efficiency of care. The Spring Festivals have always been his favourite time, ever since he turned 20, because it meant everyone inly went to work if it was an emergency; even the chefs are only working if someone hires them out!
Today was one of those days. The villages finest chef had been hired out two weeks ago for this very day; Dan's funeral.
Wills walk to the cemetery was bursting with echos of the past, the late nights spent talking to Dan flashed behind his eyes, his words circling his head with no escape in site. The mournful cloud he radiated was blown away by the quick breaths of Lexy as she ran towards him, engulfing his body in a firm hug.
"Hey," Lexy whispered, "today might suck but I bought you these-" The hug was broken as Lexy reached into her trouser pocket and pulled out two small stones. "Dan left these and addressed them to you the day he..." Lexy turned away, wiping her eyes before heading back towards the cemetery where she'd appeared from just moment ago.
Wills eyes shone with tears as he followed her retreating figure, the stinging forcing him to blink. As his eyes peeled opened, a small green light burst through his fingers where he had clenched the stones to prevent him seeing the last he had of Dan. A gasp slipped from his mouth, the stones tumbling to the floor. A second blink. Will peered down at the stones carefully, forcing himself to get closer. Nothing. No light. No green. His head filled with curiosity, was what he saw real or did he imagine it?
