It was a cool June evening on the Woodland Meadows Ranch in the heart of Saluda, South Carolina where the crickets were chirping, the cicadas were singing a melody that couldn't be matched by anything or anyone. The trees were swaying to the beat of their own music, and the breeze hummed a sweet yet subtle harmony. The stars were shining brightly, almost as if they were diamonds dancing around the moonlight which set the mood for the Porter family as they sat outside on their deck. They sat out there, bonding with each other after a long day of working on the family farm, where Leighanna and her family lived and raised their livestock and crops. Matthew and Johannah Porter, Leighanna's mom and dad, took care of the crops while Jazmyne, Annalysa, Ashleigh, and Leighanna took care of the livestock. Jazmyne took care of the cows, Annalysa took care of the chickens and donkeys, Ashleigh took care of the goats and pigs, and Leighanna maintained the horses.

Matthew Kingston Porter was raised there on Woodland Meadows Ranch all of his life, so it's no surprise that he would do the same with his family. He met his wife, Johannah MacKenzie Ramirez during his time at Saluda High School. After graduation, they got married and were expecting their first baby, Jazmyne Renee Porter but when Johannah was in labor with Jazmyne, complications arose for Johannah that made it difficult to safely deliver Jazmyne. But nonetheless, weighing 6 pounds 5 ounces, measuring at 21- and 1/2-inches Jazmyne Renee Porter was born Wednesday, July 16, 1986, at 12:15am.

Two years later, on Monday, November 4th, 1988, weighing at 7 pounds 8 ounces, and measuring at 18-and-3/4 inches, Annalysa Marie Porter was born stillborn. With swarms of doctors running in and out of the hospital room trying everything in their power to save little Anna, they start CPR in attempts to get her heart to start beating again while checking down her throat to make there was no fluid buildup or anything stuck in her throat. The doctor took a solemn, deep breath to call the time of death but during the silence, a miracle occurred. Annalysa let out a cry that not only shook the doctors, but it was so loud it woke the nations and startled the Heavens above. With tears of joy in her eyes, Johannah held her breathing newborn baby girl.

Another two years go by and the family of four welcomed their third daughter into the world. Weighing in at 5 pounds 4 ounces and measuring at 19-and-1/2 inches, Ashleigh Nichole Porter made her grand entrance into the world on Saturday, December 15th, 1990, via C-Section. It was a relatively healthy delivery until Ashleigh's oxygen and heartbeat began to drop rather quickly and suddenly which sent everyone into a frenzy. After about an hour of trying to find where the problem area was, the doctors got her heartbeat and oxygen back on track, and the family of five were released from the hospital three days later.

Saturday, February 1, 1992.  The contractions started around 10:30 that morning while she was cooking her family breakfast. At first, she didn't pay any attention to them because they weren't close together as they would be if she was going into labor. Around 3:30 in the afternoon, the contractions became stronger and five minutes apart. Matt rushed Johannah to the hospital for the last time. They placed the hospital bracelet on her wrist for the last time and wheeled her back into Labor and Delivery for the last time.

At 7:45 in the evening, Leighanna Grace Porter made her entrance into the world. This time the labor was smooth, and everything went as planned. Leighanna came out healthy, and Johannah suffered no complications afterwards. They left the next day. After 12 years of school, Jazmyne graduated from Saluda High School in 2004 with Cum Laude and went to finish her education at Lander University and graduated Magna Cum Laude with her PhD. in Mental Health.

Annalysa graduated in 2006 from Saluda High with Cum Laude and went to further her education at Lander University to get her Master's in Agriculture. In 2008, Ashleigh also graduated from Saluda High School with Magna Cum Laude and went on to further her education at Piedmont Technical College where she graduated in 2010 with her Associates in Journalism. And after 12 years of school, Leighanna finally graduated from Saluda High School with Magna Cum Laude and has not been accepted into a college, yet.
