Scarlet
I was laying in my bed trying to shake off the dream I just had. It seemed more like a message, but it wasn't clear at all. I sighed and rolled out of bed with a sigh it was still dark outside. Though it had to be close to morning. I walked downstairs and looked at the clock 3AM. I sighed once more no way I was getting back to sleep. I grab a cup of coffee and walked outside to watch the moon and stars.
The sky was beautiful tonight. It was a full moon, and the stars were shining so brightly I thought they might just burn through the earth itself. Obviously, it didn't seeing as I was still sitting outside watching the stars. "Scarlet, hear me" I jumped up at the sound spilling the hot coffee all over my hands. I cursed as I dropped the mug and it shattered. I cursed once more and pointed at the mug "azlete" the magic word for mend. I watched the pieces of the mug fly back together it was a simple spell but a very useful one. any magic user learned a form of it weather it was using the language of magic, or envisioning it in the mind.
"Scarlet, hear me, follow me" I jumped again and looked around. that voice was back, and it was getting louder, it almost sounded familiar. No that was impossible the only way the voice would be familiar is if the dead were reaching out. But it had been ages since that had happened to anyone. It took a lot of energy and power to commune after one had passed, most were not strong enough to do so. But the voice came again, more insistent, begging almost. "Scarlet Follow me." The voice seemed to move further into the city and so like the curious idiot I am, I followed the sound.
After hours of walking through the city following a voice that was probably just a figment of my imagination but who uses logic anymore. I found myself in front of a large treehouse it seemed to be constructed of very powerful magic. "alte al htat se dihedn re ense."(let all that is hidden be seen.) As the words left my mouth a slight shine was visible around the treehouse, a barrier though this one was different from the one that sat at the edge of our world. And like I said earlier, I'm an idiot so I stepped through it.
I was surprised to find that the barrier caused me no issue there was no pull on my magic nor any physical drain on my strength. It was nothing like the elders said it would be a thought ran through my head. What if the elders lied? I shake my head dismissing the though immediately. The elders would never lie about such a thing. They wouldn't! Or would they? I frowned where were these thoughts coming from. I looked up at the tree house and was shocked to see lights on, so I walked closer to the treehouse and found a ladder. I hesitated a moment what if this was a trap. Some time passed before I placed a hand on the ladder. I had come this far I needed to find out what was going on here.
When I got to the top of the ladder and pushed open the little trap door at the top. I had to squint for a moment as my eyes adjusted to the light but once my eyes adjusted, I was met with lines of books and papers splayed everywhere. I managed to pull myself inside the treehouse and looked around. There were books on magic theory, manipulation magic, articles about the barrier and the war, and so much more. I was shocked at all of this but what got me the most was a stack of papers on the desk to the side. The words on the paper were somewhat hard to read as if they were written in a hurry but after some time, I was able to make them out. It read "war or a giant hox by the elders" I stood still as something cold ran down my spine. It wasn't possible, no no. they wouldn't do that. So many people died in that war, so much innocent blood spilled.
I began to back up I wanted to run out of there, but something held me in place. A single though raced through my mind. Who built this place wrote these words, but most importantly who brought me here? I looked around but none of the papers had a name on them. Of course they wouldn't if someone found this place they would be arrested. Then how would I find out who it was. There had to be a way. I stayed there all night searching for an answer. Who built this place.
