(Book 1) The malediction of the Undertaker

Chapter 1: The family

Since the beginning of the reign of the Calaways, everyone was afraid to cross one, they have the reputation of being intimidating, dangerous, and of killing in cold blood. They are the most dangerous mage of the world. Everyone is able to recognize a Calaway by the look . The first Calaway to occupy the field was Scott Calaway, a brave man, this man who defies death every time he crosses his path. He built the Castle "Araneolus Shire" so that future generations would have a castle to defend as his name was reputed to be one of the best species. Undertaker was only ten years old when he started training with his father.

Flashback:

Lucius, Taker's father, was the 9th Dark Lord of the family, it is because of him that the name Calaway is considered a cold-blooded killer because he killed for a yes or for a No. he can't stand being allied with another species than theirs. He hated other species, mostly normal people. To him, they are nothing to do on earth because they are weak to fight. He is tall, long gray hair with a goatee of the same color as his hair, his scarlet red eyes that send shivers down your spine.

Lucius is very close to his creature "Lucian", his white spider, they fight together, they talk together, and Mark would like to have a friendship with his own creature like this too. For the young Calaway, his father was his role model, he liked to learn from him, how to fight, how to manage a kingdom and how to be a Great Lord of darkness.

Mark was a very attentive and very invested boy, which made his father, he loved following him to training. He was ginger with beautiful green eyes staring at his father in the middle of the training area, ready to cast a fire spell looking around.

Suddenly his creature falls on Lucius for an attack, he dodges his attack and casts his spell but Lucian dodges him in turn, and attacks Lucius, the spider throws cobwebs at him, Lucius dodges them so fast and tries to cast a fire spell, but his creature kicks him so hard that he flies towards the opposite walls. Mark, shocked at what he just saw and worried when his dad didn't move, he ran towards him.

"Dad, are you okay?" Said the boy with a worried look, looking at his daddy who was lying on his back. Lucius sits down, looking at his son, smiling at him. "I'm fine don't worry." he reassured. Lucius looks behind Mark, seeing his creature slowly walking towards them, hiding behind its front legs.

"stop being sorry! that's the practice part, you don't apologize when you're about to kill a human... well, that's it for today, lose- you in the forest, you did a good job!" Says he has his creature before it leaves in the forest.

Mark is impressed by his daddy's creature, his spider looks strong, it has black eyes, and at the end of its 8 legs it has thorns, probably to stick them in the neck of their opponents. Mark looks at his dad who is getting up before getting rid of the dust that is on his big coat.

"Dad, when can I have my creature?" Young Calaway asked, hands behind his back, looking at his daddy proudly. Lucius looks at him surprised that his son already wants his creature, normally it's at fifteen that a man has his creature.

"later, you're not ready to have one... come on, it's getting late, we have to go back to the castle." Lucius said as he put his arm around his son's shoulders as he walked towards the castle.

They both returned to the castle, they ate with their soldiers, their allies, Mark explained to his mother, Betty, how his father's creature had beaten him. Lucius listens to his son smiling at his son's innocence while drinking his mead.

His mother, Betty, she has green eyes and red hair and she was the most powerful woman Lucius had ever seen. He met her in a battle in another country, her father who was of the same species as them, allied with Calaways to fight and she possessed a spider but was killed by enemies of the family. When her father allied with the Calaways, she didn't agree because Lucius is very dangerous and she thought no one could trust a man of that reputation. But one thing leading to another, she fell in love with Lucius who was always there protecting her back in battle.

After supper, Betty went to sleep her son who seems to be thinking about his future to become the greatest lord the castle has ever had. "Mom ?" Said Mark looking at the ceiling of his room, Betty looks at him wondering what he wants to ask her.

"Do you think I'll be a big dark lord like daddy?" He asked his mother looking at her, she smiled then sat down on the edge of the bed.

"Even greater dark lord than your father..." she said before kissing his forehead.
