Dearest Annaliese,

It feels as though it has been many summers since I last graced the halls of Hogwarts, but while I do miss it dearly, it is refreshingly different to socialize outside the boundaries a castle full of school children must enforce. There is a much larger world outside of Slytherin, after all. Being at the top of Slytherin for half of my education does not bring me nearly as much respect as it did within Hogwarts walls, though perhaps endearing compliments and polite nods are all I deserve whilst I build up a more solid foundation to truly enter the world of politics.

But enough about me; I would like to hear more about you. I would hope that you have not forgotten your friend so soon? You must write to me more often! I am sure Hogwarts remains as exciting as I recall. As a matter of fact, imagine my surprise when a little augurey informed me that you have been speaking with my dear cousin. Might your silence be about the encounter in Diagon Alley? I do sincerely apologize for disturbing your shopping to engage in petty squabbles with cousin Vanessa.

Write back soon, little star! I eagerly await your owl.

With love,

Victoria Hemlock

Dear Victoria,

Sorry for the lack of correspondence! Classes have been hectic, I'm afraid. The addition of electives this year most certainly did no favours. Arithmancy is a parasite upon the brain.

I have been speaking regularly with Emmerson, though, I must clarify, by no choice of my own. She seems to be under the impression I did her a favour that fateful day in F&B, and I find myself lacking in the desire to inform her otherwise. It occurred to me that if I establish a friendly relation with her, perhaps we could spin her in our own favour? I would love to hear your insight. I must confess I'm at a bit of a loss without my favourite upperclassman.

Best regards,

Dearest Annaliese,

Your words are just as lovely as always, Nova. Are your intentions the same? Ah, but who am I kidding. We are Slytherins, after all. I will not hold you back from making true friends for my own grudges. Do what you will, Nova. Enjoy your youth.

On another topic, how are your studies?

Best regards,

Victoria Hemlock

Dear Victoria,

My studies are going very well, to my own surprise. I had not expected to learn so much so quickly. Thank you for referring me to Lya. She's a wonderful mentor, even if we can only meet during the holidays.

Best regards,
