An Easier Life

Is this easier?

I was on my way to work, normal for a 8 AM on Saturday. The radio was playing a nice relaxing song until it glitched and scratched, moving to the news radio. As try to change it, an announcement came up.

"Everything is about to change, enjoy your easier life"

I feel puzzles as I pull up to the red light, waiting for it to turn green. I look over to see a speeding red Tahoe passing through the light, a police car chasing after. I shake my head, easier life? It's practically the same! No one has it easy! The light turns green and I go, I pass by the same car, the police officer placing a white tarp with writing on it. I slow my car down to read it.

"This is the start to an easier life. No one is imperfect. No one."

The officer looks at me, I go faster the correct speed limit and to my job. What the hell was that? Why would that be a start? This isn't easier! This has to be some sick prank, it has to be..

I park my car, going into my office and starting my work. My work buddy, Oliver, came into my work section and started rambling about the announcement.

"Did you hear the announcement? Apparently it was government issued! I wonder what it meant though, what is going to make life ' easier'?" Oliver said, multiple expressions drawing onto their face.

"I did, I don't think it's anything important though, maybe a prank? It is April after all...", I said, visible concern written on my face and in my voice.

Oliver being them, ignored it and rambled as we worked. The speaker for lunch began, both of us closing our laptops and heading to the lunch room.

           -time skip, later that night-

I decided to watch the news, there must be something about the announcement right? I turn on the TV, the usual weather being said, surprisingly there wasn't anything that was bad on the news. No murders, robbery's, damages. Nothing .

"As you may noticed, there are no bad news on the channel today. With the warning, the government decided for us to explain everything..."

I carefully listen as they explain why it was issued, then when they got to what it means, my eyes widened in shock.

This isn't easier life...

This is the beginning of hell....
