n// this chapter is a lot shorter than the others but i really don't care that much i just love them sooooo much and i figured that ani and ryha deserve a fluffy little chapter of their own so <33 enjoy <33
It took three people to separate Ryha from Anakin's side, and it took another two to get her into the care of a medical droid.
Seeing him like that, in such a state of injury, sent her into a place she'd never been. Anakin, the greatest Jedi to have ever lived, the Chosen One himself, had almost been killed. The very thought of it sent her into hysterics, and after a while, the entire medical bay of the ship headed back to Naboo had no choice but to temporarily sedate the woman. It wasn't anything anyone wanted to do, but for her own personal safety and the safety of others, they knew they had to.
After a while, Anakin came to, feeling something... different. Looking down, he tried flexing his hand, only to find a new one in its place. Furrowing his brow, he rotated his wrist, taking it all in. Count Dooku may have bested him, but he would have his revenge. From him, and his beloved.
Wait. Ryha. Was she okay?
Arising from his bed, he moved to rush out of the room, but paused when he let his eyes settle on the sleeping form in the bed next to his. There she was, his heart, lying in bed, covered with bandages and scrapes from all that had gone down over the past few days. She was sleeping, but she still somehow managed to have a troubled look on her face.
"How are you feeling?" Padmé asked, lingering in the doorway.
Turning to face the senator, Anakin looked down at his new hand.
"Different," he replied. "It feels... strange."
She smiled sympathetically, "You fought well."
"And Dooku still got away."
There was a lull of silence between them, both of their minds jumping to the Sith. Changing the subject, Padmé turned her attention to the sleeping beauty before them.
"She put up a fight," she chuckled dryly. "She wouldn't leave your side. Every time the medical droids would attempt to see to her, she'd break free and return to your side. They had to sedate her—"
"They what?"
At his tone, Padmé paused. There was no point in hiding the truth from him. He deserved to know.
"She kept screaming, Anakin." she spoke lowly. "She couldn't stop screaming."
Anakin turned his attention towards Ryha and looked at her. Really looked at her. Her dark skin had become pallid, and her eyes were puffy. He could sense her struggles, even when she was sleeping. He didn't know how he was going to leave her — especially when a war had just been waged upon the Republic. He could always leave the Jedi Order, but he knew that she wouldn't let him. He was stuck in between a rock and a hard place, but for now, he was with her. That was what mattered. He would figure everything else later.
"I have given it some consideration, and for everything you've done for me, I would like to have Ryha stay here on Naboo with me." Padmé continued, breaking Anakin from his thoughts. "If she's okay with it, she'd be trained as a handmaiden, and she'll have a life here. A good life. And as my handmaiden, it would be in her realm of responsibility to accompany me to certain events."
"Events that the Jedi would also be attending." Anakin continued.
"Precisely."
Anakin crossed the room and engulfed Padmé in a hug, grateful for her generous offer.
