In the wake of Jon Arryn death the king ordered the whole court to head to the north to see his old friend Eddard Stark.
A raven was sent to Winterfell on the king coming to Winterfell and the news of Jon Arryn. Catelyn read the letter to Ned and between them they figured out what the king wants. So the northerns had to plan everything for the king and his court. It would take a month for the court to get to winterfell but that was a good thing for the Starks to have that much time to have everything done.
The scouts saw the king and the court coming closer to the castle and Bran, one of the younger son to Eddard Stark saw the king riding in the front. Bran climbed down the walls to tell everyone from inside. But was caught by his mother demanding that bran stops climbing but Bran lies.
Catelyn told him to find his father about the king is close. All of the Stark children are in their nice clothes to greet the king and the queen. All were lined up in the court yard of the castle. The kingsguard, Ser Arthur Dayne looked over the Starks trying to find his son. Then the king appeared and all bowed down. Robert got off his horse with some difficulty because of his fatness.

Robert gave the okay to stand up. He looks at Eddard before speaking.
" You got fat" Robert said.
Eddard said nothing but gave Robert a look back. Both started to laugh before hugging each other. Robert looks over at Cat giving her a hug as well. Queen Cersei came out of the carriage walking over to the Starks. Ned kisses her hand and Cat curtsy towards Cersei. After Cersei made her presences known to the Starks Robert looks over the Stark children.
Robb Stark, heir to Winterfell. So rumors say that he is the son to the late Brandon Stark and not Eddard's. But no one can prove it.
