"Jed!," "Where are you Jed?" Mother yelled as she spotted me. "What is it that you think your doing?" She said. I wasn't looking at her. We were walking through town and I stopped looking into the store "Mandy's Miscellaneous" window. I was looking through the glass and saw a loaf of bread with "Todays special 75 cents off all bread" written on a sign next to the bread. I was starving and seemed to be hypnotized by the delicious looking loaf of bread but was quickly snapped back into reality by mother, "Hello???," she said. "Can't we get some mother?" "You know we can't hon." "We can't afford it but come with me, we are on our way to get some food from that helpers house." What mother really ment was the homeless and poor house that was dedicated to giving scraps and torn clothes to those who needed it. "Okay," I said taking a hold of my mother's hand. "Maybe when we get enough money jed we can get you some." As we walked further to the poor house I looked around the town I lived in called Water Rock, I could tell plenty of the town was poor. Old man George was a walking on the opposite side walk and had his arms folded as he was bent over something that he was nibbling. George was homeless but was constantly helping and was selfless. He sometimes babysat me when mother had to go and work. Mother would give him rations for the help.

It took us about only 30 more seconds to reach the poor house. "Welcome little Jed!" Said Barbra "here to get some food I'm guessing?" "Yes" said mother. "We would like anything you have." "One second" Said Barbra leaving for only a couple seconds and came back with a small jar full of powder. "This seems to be what we have for you" Said Barbra. "How much?" Asked mother. "One dollar" said Brenda. "Alright" mother said as she handed over a dollar in coins. "Oh and Jed," Brenda said. "Hmm?" "Take this" she said as she tossed some bread towards me. "I saw you looking at that bread at Mandy's. Free of charge." "Oh thank you so much!!!" Mother said, "What do you say Jed?" "Thank you" I quickly said "anything for a great mother and her seven year old son!" Barbra said. Then Barbra said "wait gold on" as she quickly went back into the store and came back out with a sack of flour. "Here take this just give me another dollar for it." Mothers eyes widened at the sack of flour weighing probably 15 pounds. "Won't you get in trouble?" Mom quickly said as she looked back and forth carefulr to make sure no one was watching amd pulled out another dollar of coins out of her coin sac." Barbra quickly waved her hand and said "don't worry you need this more than anyone." Mother quickly gave her the money and said "thank you so much!" "No need, just hurry and get home before someone notices"

Mom quickly gave me the jar of powder and took my hand. "Let's hurry home" mother said. As we hurried I was accidentally knocked over by a man in a suit and almost broke the jar. "Sorry kid" he said and didn't even look back. "How rude" mother said getting me up while I grabbed the jar "He could of at leas-" moms sentence was quickly stopped by a scream by a woman who was being dragged by her hair. "Stay close" mother quickly whispered to me as the town started going toward the noise. That scream sounded familiar... I thought... Wait... That's "Barbra!" Mother gasped. I quickly looked over and saw the man in the suit had drug her to the street. "Barbra, you have been charged with giving food freely or below price. You have been charged with stealing from stores to supply the poor house" the man in the suit yelled. "And your charge..." the man in the suit paused to savor the crowds horror. "Public death, here and now" as he said that a man in a weird clothing that looked to be made of potato sacks and he had a mask made of cloth brought out an ax with a sharp bottom and a blade on top. Mother stood there's paralyzed by the sight. Brenda started screaming "NO NO! I'M SORRY! I WON'T DO IT AGAIN!" But the man in the suit quickly kneed her in the stomach silencing her. And he quickly waved his hand down at her. Signaling the executioner to carry out his job. He slowly walked up to Barbra and brought the ax into position, brought the ax back. Barbra eyes were wide as she looked up at the executioner looking for mercy behind his mask. The executioner brought down the ax and Barbra let out a blood curling scream! AHHHHH- and was quickly cut of with the sound of flesh getting sliced.

"Wake up you lazy piece of worthless crap!!!" Jen shouted in my ear as she hit my side and knocking the breath out of me. "You will be in the basement in thirty minutes or you can look forward to not a bit of breakfast or lunch" Jen said as she walked out of the room. I quickly got my breath back and noticed how fast my heart was beating and how fast I was breathing. Whew... just a dream. So... horrible though. I took a deep breath and got out of my bed and got ready for my day.
