Mirabel + Giftless! Reader

The door disappeared. What's worse, is that you didn't know whats going on, Great Prima Mirabel told you and other Madrigal grandkids before every ceremony about her failed ceremony. You seen your cousins and even older siblings earn gifts.

And you, you received none. Tia Mirabel didn't look sad, or have any emotion other than kindness. Great Abuela Alma was rather harsh to Great Prima Mirabel and you were afraid she'll be the same. You stood there with your face down to the ground.

"We've got a new candle holder." Mirabel said.

Everyone clapped their hands as fireworks exploded.

You still didn't feel special.

After your failed ceremony. Your great prima Elena tried to make you feel better, but that failed. So she walked out to get Dolores your Mami. Surprisingly Dolores didn't seem all that sad about you not receiving a gift. Mariano, your Papi even tried to cheer you up  saying that the both of you can be normal together.

"It doesn't matter if you don't have a gift, even if you have a gift... I bet you'd be as wonderful as ever." Dolores said. 

"Má what would be my gift be if I wasn't a candle holder?" You asked.

"I'm not sure, just like Abuela said to me and countless others it'll be special as you." Dolores boops your nose, you smiled a bit before it returned back to your regular look.

"I'll be back, try and not be too upset." Dolores said, kissing your head and walking out.

Mirabel soon arrived in your room.

"(Y/n)." She said, you didn't look up, Mirabel sat down next to you.

"(Y/n). I know you're upset about not receiving a gift. But... I understand where you're coming from." She said.

"Abuela treated me differently, she was disappointed that I didn't get a gift... And well, it took her awhile to realize how harsh she'd been... I'm not like Abuela... And I know you'll be a fantastic candle holder like me." Mirabel claims. You smiled and hugged her. When the time comes you'll understand how important being a candle holder is.
