“Leon!” I looked back when I heard my best friend called.

“Nia!”

“Done with your works?” She refers to the assignments and homework that our teacher gave us before dismissal.

“That’s a given,”  I chuckled.

“Tch,” she rolled her eyes at me.

We kept on walking towards home, Nia and I always go home together as our homes are just close to one another. She have been my friend ever since I was a child and I guess it’s impossible for us not to be—given that we share the same likings and hobby.

It’s also a fact that we are both y’know? Misfits.

Meaning we don’t posses magical powers that almost everyone in the continent does.

A power that comes from the gods and goddesses of Limfa. They are given to us to cultivate and develop the land that they bestowed to mortals. At the age of seven, the child will naturally woke the power lying within them, it is called ‘vigor’. Unfortunately, some people does not posses supernatural abilities, they are called misfit.

But there are also beings that was able to wake their power beyond the given age, the one that believes that they’re misfits not until their vigor manifested.

They’re the late bloomers.

Maybe I’m one of them, or maybe not?

Well, my mom and dad, they’re both misfits. Mommy said that there were no vigor manifested to anyone in our family on both sides. It would have been better if I posses any of them regardless if its common and weak. I might be able to do something when bad things rise. Though it is somehow impossible as I live in the island of misfits.

Yes, you’ve read it right.

There were no vigorous person living in this island. It’s a place where what they call worthless lives live. Attacks are very rare as people won’t obtain anything from our lives. No mana, no vigour to steal. Even vigorous race would rather live in the capital where opportunities and the chance to get stronger are.
