Feelings and thoughts...

And I couldn't believe my eyes...

Shannon was pretty, just as my dad had told me, but the soft and sort of tired look she wore on her face was enough to comfort me and make all my previous fear disappear.

A beautiful smile appeared on her face when she saw my dad and I.

But that wasn't what shocked me the most about how she looked.

You see, Shannon was kind of short, she had pale, yet blushing skin, and her hair was violet and purple.

You wanna know whose hair was also purple?

Zander's

And she looked just like him.

Even their faces were similar.

'NO' I thought, not believing what I'd just realized.

My dad had said the Shannon called her son 'Alex'

Such as in Alex-...Zander?

My eyes were opening like plates, and my brain was literally melting.

I barely had a second to zone out of my thoughts and say:

"H-hi!"

"Hello!" Shannon said, her voice nervous, and excited "You must be Hailey, aren't you? Your father has told me so much about you! It's so nice meeting you!" she held out her hand and smiled, genuinely happy to see me.

A sudden rush of memories flooded me.

I got taken back to that moment from such a long time ago, when I went to say goodbye to my mom and she shut the door on my face...

I remember being so hurt by the look she gave me...

But now, Shannon's smile suddenly seemed to heal that wound in my heart. It was nice to see a true smile like that one.

I shook her hand and she led us both inside the apartment, which, let's admit it, might have still been kinda cold and unsettling like the building itself, but at least there was a visible effort to make it feel at home. For example, the couch in their living room looked sorta old, but also super comfy. The wall's paint was peeling, but all of those pretty paintings hung around made it look like a work of art. The place was small, but they had warm light bulbs on all their lamps, making it look cozier. I also noticed there were some of those cheap wooden stools... you know the ones you can find at a furniture store for like, half their price because they are so old? Well, what stood out about them to me was that they were all covered with small cushions, making them look quite nice and probably also more comfy to sit on. I considered it quite the smart improvisation and may I even say an improvement to those things.

Oh yeah, there were also blankets everywhere for some reason.

I don't mean it like they were nonsensically thrown across the room, but like, each of them seemed to be carefully folded and put in its place like it belonged there...

It wasn't even winter.

But anyway, after we talked for a second, we sat down to eat our dinner (which was actually a simple meat broth with veggies that I must say was delicious), and the conversation went on pretty basically, just us getting to know each other and talking about how they met and stuff.
