Torn Minds (Afterdeath)

Chapter 11

(Reapers POV)
I appreciated that Geno had agreed to come and seemingly understood what I wanted, it had been a bad day from the start but after the news that we had lost some more monsters to the humans had put me in a even worse  mood. Taking a deep breath the whispers in my head wouldn't shut up.

I needed to break this silence so it can at least distract me from the words.

"So you where practicing on your own?" I asked Geno seemed startled that I was talking but shook it off "yeah I uh, I wanna try and be more helpful" he said nervously, you could almost miss it if you blinked but a quick look for approval spread across Genos face. I couldn't help but blush it was quite cute. "I'm glad your enthused" I spoke quickly adverting my gaze.

Despite my self I was gaining a small crush on the shorter skelton and silly as it is and the fact we are in the middle of a war I couldn't help my self. However I'm afraid. Afraid that if gets to close to me he will get hurt or might die on the field and what then my soul would be shattered. I suppose that makes me a coward...

For now I suppose I will keep him at arms length and annoy him with my jokes and flirty remarks.

"What are you thinking about?" Geno asked blinking out of my thought I stared at Geno, the lack of moon tonight made it especially dark so it was hard to see his features. "Nothing in particular just what needs to be done tomorrow" I spoke Geno nodded slowly "what needs to be done?" "Well I touch base with nightmare and Dream and then we will be off to a few villages for more monsters like us."

He nodded "can I come?" He blurted out surprising me and him. It wasn't a good idea after last mission when so many didn't make it out. 'He will die and it will be all your fault' the voice hissed. Geno saw my frown "Reaper please I want to be useful I want to help" he begged determination sparked in his eyes.

Against my better judgment I gave in, I knew by the look on his face he wouldn't take no for a answer. From what I gathered he is stubborn as all hell.

"Fine" I murmured folding my arms Geno seemed surprised, he opened his mouth but a loud crack in the woods stopped the words coming out from his mouth. We both stared at where the noise came from, I had my hands at the ready quick to summon my scythe if needed.

Holding my breath I strained to hear anything else. Perhaps it was a bunny or bird? However loud foot steps could be heard until out from the woods came Cross bleeding. Almost slashing him i jumped back having been startled.

He was breathing hard and went wide eyed when he saw us both. "T-They.. T-Took hi-him" cross was panting between words having ran quite a while he  was  stationed on the other entrance. "Who??" Geno asked.

Cross sucked in a deep breath before answering "K-Killer"

Cross and Geno followed me as we sprinted back to the base, poor cross had some pretty bad wounds but I asked Geno to take him to the infirmary.  Going down the steps  I quickly hurried to dream and Nightmares room.

Knocking on the heavy door I tapped my foot impatiently. Finally the door opened nightmare stood sensing my negative emotions. "What happened??" He asked "they took Killer" nightmares eyes widened.

Heading in Dream heard the conversation and quickly looked thru the book that held all the notes about everyone in the facility. "That's not good" Dream spoke looking at his brother. "Killer had ability blocking powers" nightmare read out loud. "They never took one our own before nor have they ever came up here so close to the base"

Dream murmured going deep in to thought. 'You recommended killer to be put on patrol you let this happen'          'It's your fault the locations going to be exposed and everyone will be dead because of you.' The voices jeered making me squeeze my eyes shut. I wanted to protest but deep down it was always right.

It was my fault.

Nightmare and I where going to organize a team to try and get killer back. Perhaps we can even catch them before they get him to the castle. The village recruitment will have to wait.

Walking down the hall hastily "reaper wait up!" Geno called behind me turning around on my heel Geno didn't expect me to turn and went face first in to my chest with a Oof. He stumbled back catching him by the shirt so he wouldn't fall backwards I pulled him so he was steady.

He straightened out his shirt looking at me with an unreadable expression. Before it turned in to his signature scowl. "So what's the plan?" He asked. I didn't want him to get roped in to this but his ability to freeze time could give us the opportunity to sneak in and then out undetected.

"I hate to ask this of you" I started slowly but Geno seemed to straighten up and before I could finish he nodded firmly "I'll do it" blinking with surprise "I didn't even tell you what it was" he shook his head "I'm guessing you guys are planing to rescue Killer" nodding Geno waited for me to say more "come with me" I spoke with a motion before walking down the hall again now with Geno in Tow. 'Good job Reaper wait to send him to his death'

Dream, Nightmare Life, Geno and I and a few others stood with us Terrance and Blake said they would watch over the base while we are gone. Standing next to Nightmare who wore a grim expression. I held an illusion out over a table of what we knew about the humans specialized prison which wasn't that much honestly but we worked with what we had.

Glancing out over the table I saw Geno nervous expression he fiddled with the tail end of his scarf. Life kept shooting him gentle looks.

Dream finished up his speech which I had tuned out I've been on more then enough missions that his motivational speech I could say back in my sleep.

Moving to the stables I gave Genos sleeve a tug making him slow and look at me "you really don't need to do this" I mumbled quietly as we walked Geno turned to me with a fierce look "o told you reaper I finally want to be useful I'm sick of waiting and letting other people get hurt." Surprised I never knew he felt so strongly about this.

He was determined and Ready to make them repay for all his villages blood that had been spilled and from the look in his eyes it chilled me to the bone.
